FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS First ECPD International Conference on Advanced Robotics and Intelligent Automation State of the Art, Prospects and Socio-economic Implications 6 - 8 September, 1995, Athens Greece Steering Committee General Chairman Secretary General Vlastimir Matejic Miomir Vukobratovic Branislav Borovac Chairman Phone: +381 11 774 236 Phone: +381 21 55 011 Fax: +381 11 775 870 Fax: +381 21 59 536 E-mail: borovac@uns.ns.ac.yu The European Centre for Peace and Development (ECPD) of the United Nations University for Peace is international exterritorial organization, organizing research and postgraduate studies in service of development and peace of less developed European countries. The First ECPD International Conference on Advanced Robotics and Intelligent Automation is an attempt to make a survey of the current state of robotics in the broader sense and the development perspectives, as well as its impact on the technological and social progress, primarily in developing countries. Special topic of the Conference is Intelligent Automation and Constructions. Intelligent robotic systems are being developed rapidly over the last decade. As the field matures the "intelligent approach" is spread out to new fields. In addition to classical and traditional intelligent control using model-based or knowledge-based techniques, a new direction of automatic control of the technical systems performances based on active control of their characteristics parameters is to be established. We believe in the importance of this new aspect in understanding intelligent behavior, both of the control systems and constructions, in which the parameters, i.e., their dynamic properties, can be controlled. Applications of advanced robotics, automation and manufacturing technologies are having an increased impact on productivity and quality in many manufacturing areas, and have become a key factor of competitiveness of economy. It is undoubtedly true that any research in technical fields, as the final consequence, supports technical progress, we expect that meetings of the various specialists in the Conference will initiate research which are closer to the real industrial needs. The topics covered include: Real time robot dynamics Intelligent constructions Kinematic of redundant robots Intelligent automation Kinematic and dynamic accuracies of Active control of robot performances robots Non-traditional robotic mechanisms Active control of parameters for robots and robotized mechanical systems Dextrous and redundant manipulation Multirobot systems: modelling and control Autonomous robots Position-force control of robots interacting with dynamic environment Legged locomotion robots: Robotized flexible cells: modelling and control modelling and control Robotized vehicles Medical and rehabilitation robots and prothetic-orthotic devices Model-knowledge based robot control Robot applications Neural networks approach in modelling and control of robots Social impact of robotics Neural-fuzzy logic control of robots Final deadline for extended abstract (up to 600 words) is January 15, 1995. Please indicate the area of the paper. Notification of acceptance will be mailed by February 15, 1995. The final manuscripts should be received prior to June 15, 1995. The papers (maximum 6 pages, including figures) should be submitted in the final format with a 2-column format on A4 sheets. Each column is limited on 82 mm in width, 225 mm in length with 9 mm gutter between columns. The margins are 18.5 mm on the sides, 36 mm on the top and bottom. Text is to be typed in 12 points Times Roman or close font type. The first page of the paper, centered on the top bellow the top margin should include the paper title (short and descriptive), the authors' names and affiliations. Registration fee per each participant will be $300. International Program Committee L. Basanez, Spain I. Plander, Slovakia G. Bekey, USA P. Roberts, UK J. F. Bito, Hungary B. Roth, USA F. L.
