FIFTH INTERNATIONAL LISP USERS AND VENDORS CONFERENCE (LUV'95)

Attention authors and potential authors of papers on the use of Dynamic
Object-Oriented Languages (e.g. Lisp, Scheme, Dylan).
As is now traditional, the schedule for this year's Lisp Users and Vendors
Conference (LUV '95) provides for technical papers. In addition LUV'95 now
features a STUDENT SUBMISSION CONTEST, see below.
To complement more theoretical conferences on Functional Programming,
we are looking for concrete, practical papers presenting issues of
importance to those who build or intend to build their commercial
business in today's marketplace using Dynamic Object-Oriented products.
This is a chance to share your success stories, discuss your techniques,
or even document technical and social obstacles you're facing that you
haven't yet managed to overcome. The conference brings together experts
who are focused on making Dynamic OO succeed in the marketplace, and there
is no better forum for you to engage in a public dialog about the use of
Dynamic Object-Oriented Languages today.

SCOPE AND CONTENT. Material in papers must clearly demonstrate a
practical value from the use of Dynamic Object-Oriented technology; as
such, papers need not be especially innovative or original. Direct
and simple applications of Dynamic OO techniques to rapidly and
effectively solve practical problems will be noticed. Preference
will be given to previously undisseminated reports or experiences. Topics
in the area of programming languages and environments are welcome. These
include programming with multiple paradigms, generation of domain specific
languages, integration with foreign languages, dynamic object distribution,
distributed objects recycling, persistent object storages and databases.
Specific application examples are welcome including issues on software
design and architecture, product delivery, real-time, small platforms,
graphical user interfaces, interface builders, CLIM and portability.
Untested or purely theoretical ideas are less suitable but will also
be considered. The full range of Lisp dialects, and Dylan are appropriate
to this conference, including (but not limited to) Common Lisp, GNU Emacs
Lisp, Scheme, ISLISP, Eulisp, DKLISP, JKLISP, XLISP, AutoLisp, and
Interleaf Lisp.
SUBMISSIONS. Authors should submit an electronic copy (text only is fine)
of their paper submission not later than MONDAY JUNE 26 1995 including
LUV'95 SUBMISSION on the subject line to:

The length of the written papers should not exceed TEN (10) pages
(numbered, font size 10pt or larger). Submissions should include
an electronic mail address (if available), a return postal address
(for printed paper submissions), and a telephone number.
STUDENT PAPERS CONTEST. There will be a separate track for Student papers.
Submission and acceptance dates, as well as acceptable themes, are
the same as for other authors. Accepted papers will appear in the
written proceedings (please see following instructions regarding
copyright and permission to publish requirements). The best student
paper will be celebrated and the winner will receive free admission
to LUV'95 conference including admission to THREE (3) tutorial sessions.
DEADLINES. Please mark your calendar with the following dates:
26 JUNE 95 Deadline for receipt of papers (or extended abstracts).
7 JULY 95 Last day for notification of acceptance or rejection.
7 JULY 95 Deadline for "normal" registration. (After this, rates go up.)
28 JULY 95 Deadline for receipt of final copy of accepted papers.
COPYRIGHT. Authors of accepted paper will be required to sign a release
for publication in the conference proceedings. Authors may retain the
copyright themselves if they wish by installing their own copyright
notice in the paper. Previously copyrighted material may still be
published depending on the permission to publish; in this case, the
previous copyright and notice of permission should appear in the paper.
PRESENTATION OF ACCEPTED PAPERS. Accepted papers will appear in the
written proceedings, which will be distributed at the conference and might
or might not also be distributed in some other fashion after the conference.
The authors of certain selected papers will be invited to make a
20-minute verbal presentation at the technical talks sessions during
the conference. (Time constraints might prevent the verbal presentation
of some accepted papers.)
