WORKSHOP ON MATHEMATICAL METHODS IN COMPUTER VISION

                             to be held
                       September 11-15, 1995
                                at
                        The Geometry Center
                      University of Minnesota
                          Minneapolis, MN

                       Organizing Committee:

                 David Mumford, Harvard University
               Peter Olver, University of Minnesota
              Guillermo Sapiro, Hewlett-Packard, Inc.
             Allen Tannenbaum, University of Minnesota

This workshop intends to bring together in one forum mathematicians, computer
scientists, and engineers working in computer vision and image processing.
The topics will be:

    (1) Image processing and segmentation by PDE methods and geometry
        driven diffusion;
    (2) Tracking by Kalman filtering and deformable templates.

The workshop is intended to combine in-front-of-the-computer
discussions of competing algorithms and software and their performance
on real images with traditional lectures. The lectures will include a
number of tutorial background lectures as well as lectures devoted to
recent results in the area. All attendees are strongly urged to either
port their software applicable to the above topics or prepare it for
running remotely; the staff of The Geometry Center will stand ready to
assist. We hope to keep the atmosphere informal, so that scientists
>from various disciplines working in computer vision and image
processing will have a chance to exchange views and learn about and
compare different techniques.
