IAPR TC-7 (Remote Sensing) and IAPR TC-8 (Industry) International Association of Pattern Recognition IAPR Technical Committee 7 - Applications in Remote Sensing invites to a Specialist Workshop Methods for Extracting and Mapping Buildings, Roads and other Man-Made Structures from Images September 2 - 3, 1996 Technical University Graz, Austria Lecture Hall i3, Inffeldgasse 25 Space imagery is becoming available at increasingly higher geometric resolutions, approaching those traditionally reserved to aerial photography. The creation of base maps, the detection of changes, the merging of images from different sensors all benefit from an ability to automatically recognize man-made objects from digital overhead images. Yet this ability is far from being available in a routine manner. To focus attention on this issue we invite you to contribute to, and attend, a specialist workshop. To this end we issue a CALL FOR PAPERS for this workshop. Note that it is set to follow the International Conference on Pattern Recognition ICPR, to be held in Vienna, Austria, August 25 - 30, 1996. Please send 3 copies of your extended 1 to 3 page abstract and usual information before 31 January 1996 to the local organizer: Franz Leberl, Chairman of TC-7 Institute for Computer Graphics Muenzgrabenstrasse 11, A-8010 Graz, Austria Tel.: ++43 316 873-5012, Fax: ++43 316 873-5050, e-mail: leberl@icg.tu-graz.ac.at This workshop is coordinated with the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (IEEE GRS) and with the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS, Prof. Dr. Armin Grn). Contributions will be selected from the abstracts. We plan to print the full papers as a book. Also see for most recent information. Paper submission deadline: 31 Jan 1996 Acceptance notification: 1 May 1996 Final camera ready paper: 2 Sep 1996
