This volume of original papers has been assembled to honor
Azriel Rosenfeld on the occasion of his 65th birthday.

There will be a reception for the Festschrift on
the evening of Monday, June 17, just prior to CVPR, in the
conference hotel (Hotel Nikko, 6:00 pm, in the Pink Pearl Room).

The contributions in this book illustrate the changes that 
have occurred in dealing with crucial research problems and 
the methodologies employed to solve them. The contributors
include Jake Aggarwal, Narendra Ahuja, Ruzena Bajcsy, Jacob Beck,
Mike Brady, Freddy Bruckstein, Rama Chellappa, Larry Davis,
