Special Issue on Automatic Target Detection and Recognition
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing
A special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing will be devoted
to the topic of Automatic Target Detection and Recognition (ATD/R). The
purpose of this special issue is to provide an overview of the
state-of-the-art in this important field, and to collect significant research
results about new developments. Authors are encouraged to submit original,
unpublished research papers on the topic of automatic target detection and
recognition. Possible topics for papers submitted to the special issue
include, but are not limited to:
Multiresolution processing
FLIR, Laser, MMW and SAR image processing
Multiband detection and discrimination
Sensor, target and clutter modeling
Design of filters for target detection and feature extraction
Image analysis and image segmentation
Model-based target detection and recognition
Model-based processing of image sequences for target motion
detection, recognition ad tracking
Physics-based processing for target detection and recognition
Multisensor processing and sensor fusion
Feature selection and design of classifiers
Adaptive techniques for detection and recognition
Change detection and wide-area surveillance for ATD/R
Performance evaluation

The special issue will be published in early 1997. Prospective authors should
follow the regular guidelines of the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing,
and submit 5 copies of their manuscript to Dr. Dan Dudgeon at the above
address. The deadline for submission is November 1, 1995.
This Call has appeared in the May 1995 issue of IEEE Transactions on Image
Processing.
