WORKSHOP ON

        FOUNDATIONS OF INFORMATION/DECISION FUSION

                            AND

            APPLICATIONS TO ENGINEERING PROBLEMS

                         AUG 7-9,  1996,
                 Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel,
                         Washington DC

The developments and results in the area of information/decision
fusion have been scattered in articles in rather diverse areas such as
political economy, reliability, decision fusion, sensor fusion,
forecasting, pattern recognition, etc. Often the basic issues are the
same across the disciplines, and the solutions similar if one looks
beyond the facade of contextual details. The objective of this
workshop is to bring together researchers in various disciplines to
foster an exchange of foundational ideas and methods that cut across
the disciplines but at the same time are tied together by the
underlying theme of information/decision fusion.

Topics of interest include the following:

        *       Mathematics of Information/Decision Fusion
        * Information/Decision Fusion Problems in Engineering
        *       Distributed Decision Fusion
        * Fusion Methods in Forecasting and Time Series
        * Pattern Recognition and Sensor Processing
        * Computer Vision and Motion Analysis

The workshop proceedings will be published and will be available at
the workshop. Invited Presentations A number of invited talks are
planned by experts in various areas, such as forecasting, robotics,
DNA analysis, pattern recognition, and distributed decision fusion.
