PURPOSE:
We are pleased to announce the advance program for WACV '96, at which 
researchers from around the world will present and discuss the application of 
computer vision techniques to diverse problems of practical significance.  
In the spirit of the workshop format, we encourage others to participate and 
bring related interests of industry, government, and academia to the meeting.  
In addition to a panel discussion and demo session, morning and evening 
technical sessions have been scheduled around these topics and others:

    remote sensing and cartography      manufacturing
    law enforcement and surveillance    industrial inspection
    mosaicing                           medicine
    visual navigation                   teleconferencing
    content-based video indexing        OCR
    target recognition                  image enhancement

A published proceedings will be available at the Workshop.

SARASOTA:
The workshop hotel is the Holiday Inn on Lido Beach in Sarasota, Florida. One 
of the prime attractions is, of course, the beach. In addition, the hotel has 
a pool and is a two-block walk from St. Armand's Circle, which provides many 
fine shopping and dining possibilities. Outdoor activities in the area include 
golf, tennis, and cycling, as well as various water sports, including 
wind surfing, deep sea fishing, and boat rentals.  Other attractions in the 
Sarasota area include the Mote Marine Lab, Myakka River State Park, 
Ringling Museum of Art, and Sarasota Jungle Garden. Other major attractions 
within driving distance include Disney World, Epcot Center, Sea World, 
Universal Studios (all near Orlando), Busch Gardens (in Tampa), and the 
Salvador Dali Museum (in St. Petersburg).

TRANSPORTATION: 
Several major airlines fly into the Sarasota airport, which is about 7 miles 
>from the conference hotel.  The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle from/to
the Sarasota airport;  just call the hotel upon arrival.  Otherwise, a taxi 
>from the Sarasota airport to the hotel costs about $12 one way. 
The hotel is also approximately a 75-minute drive from the Tampa airport.
