FIRST CALL FOR PARTICIPATION L'INGENIEUR ET LES FRACTALES FRACTALS IN ENGINEERING June 25-27, 1997 Arcachon, FRANCE OBJECTIVES The goal of the conference is to bring together researchers working in all areas of fractal analysis. The scope encompasses recent theoretical advances as well as industrial applications. The first two "FRACTALS IN ENGINEERING" symposia (held in 1992 and 1994, in Montreal) were very successful in providing a forum stimulating exchanges between the academic and private sectors. The third conference will be held in Arcachon in the Southwest part of France. SCOPE ----- Topics to be covered include: THEORETICAL ASPECTS --- APPLICATIONS Dimension Theory - Signal Processing Multifractal Analysis - Image Processing IFS Theory - Finance Harmonic Analysis on Fractals - Fractal-Wave Interactions Dynamical Systems - Computer Network Traffic Analysis Wavelets and Fractals - Processes on Fractal Surfaces Stochastic Analysis on Fractals - Mechanical Aspect of Fractals Structure --------- Two thematic sessions are scheduled per day. Each will be introduced by an invited lecture allowing a formal introduction for non-specialists. Several 25-minutes contributed talks will follow. A poster session will be organized.
