CALL FOR PAPERS
                      (PAPERS DUE NOVEMBER 1, 1996)

XVth INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INFORMATION PROCESSING IN MEDICAL
IMAGING (IPMI97): June 9-13, 1997, Green Mountain College, Poultney,
Vermont.

IPMI '97 is the XVth in the series of biennial conferences on
Information Processing in Medical Imaging and follows the successful
1995 meeting in Brest, France. Computational techniques play a vital
and ever expanding role in medical imaging. This conference is the
latest in a series of unique and important meetings where new
developments in the acquisition, analysis and display of medical
images are presented, discussed, dissected and extended.

The meeting is held in the style of a workshop. All participants are
expected to make an active contribution by presenting papers, posters
or demonstrations, and by joining discussions. There are no parallel
sessions. Generous time is allocated to speakers and for discussion.

TOPICS
-Computer vision techniques useful in medical image analysis
-Analysis of image sequences and temporal data, especially cardiac datasets
  -Image segmentation
  -Feature-extraction and pattern recognition
-Registration and fusion of data from different modalities
-Anatomical models and their use in image analysis
-Bayesian/entropy and other statistical methods useful in medical
   image processing
  -New approaches to image formation
-Image reconstruction from underdetermined, multiplexed or noisy projections
-Use of prior information in image reconstruction and analysis
  -Objective assessment of image quality
-Searching and Sorting in Medical Image Databases
-Estimation of quantitative parameters from images
-Display systems for visualization of multidimensional data
  -Rule-based systems and learning

LOCATION

IPMI '97 will be held on the campus of Green Mountain College in the
southwestern part of the state of Vermont. The College is situated in
the small town of Poultney, which is 20 miles west of Rutland,
Vermont's second largest city. New York City, Boston and Montreal are

Poultney is on the edge of Vermont's Green Mountains and is surrounded
by several lakes, which are accessible for boating and sailing. The
closest is Lake St. Catherine only 3 miles from the center of town.

COSTS

The registration fee will be approximately $250 which includes the
conference proceedings. The accommodations, including lodging and
meals, for the week-long conference will be approximately $250.
Partial subsidies for travel, registration, and accommodations will be
available for authors of accepted papers and for a limited number of
students wishing to attend the conference.

PAPER SUBMISSION

Submit four copies of a full paper (20 (8.5 inch x 11 inch) pages,
double space, 12pt font, 1 inch margins) and one summary page by
NOVEMBER 1, 1996. The summary page should address the following
questions: 1.) What is the original contribution of this work ? 2.)
Why should this contribution be considered important ? 3.) What is the
most closely related work by others and how does this work differ ?
4.) How can other researchers make use of this work ? 5.) If any part
of this paper has been submitted to another conference or workshop,
please state the meeting and also how this paper differs. Accepted
papers will be published as a book and made available at the
conference. Please submit to:
