Krupnik (Israel) and C. Toth (USA) Secretary: M. Fradkin (Israel) ISPRS WG III/3: "Feature Extraction and Grouping" Co-chairs: H. Ebner (Germany) and R. Nevatia (USA) Secretary: H. Mayer (Germany) ISPRS WG II/8: "Digital Systems for Image Processing" Co-chairs: C. Heipke (Germany) and T. Sarjakoski (Finland) Secretary: K. Eder (Germany) Workshop setup The intention of the organizers is to provide a stimulating casual workshop environment, rather than a rigid conference climate, in order to promote meaningful discussions beyond the presentations. The workshop will take place at the campus of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, which is located on the Carmel Mountain, by the Mediterranean, and provides a magnificent view on Haifa Bay, the northern part of Israel and the Galilee Mountains. Workshop topics The main objectives of the workshop are the investigation and analysis of theoretical and practical aspects of feature extraction, surface reconstruction, object extraction and their interactions. Topics include (but not limited to): Theoretical topics: * Surface reconstruction methods * Surface reconstruction from laser scanner data * Data fusion (multi*sensor, multi-spectral, multi-temporal) * Combined feature extraction and surface reconstruction algorithms * Surface reconstruction aspects of automatic scene analysis * Impact of scale and radiometric/geometric image formation on features and surfaces * 2D and 3D grouping * Modeling of natural and man-made objects for surface and 3D object extraction * Performance evaluation for surfaces and objects * Error detection in automatically generated surfaces Practical topics: * Automatic image orientation * automatic DEM generation * Automatic and semiautomatic tools for editing DEM * Orthophoto and mosaic generation * GIS*data extraction and updating * Visualization methods * Products derived from surfaces * Advances in digital photogrammetric workstations General information Registration, hotel and program information will be mailed as soon as possible, and will also be posted on our web site at: http://www.technion.ac.il/people/krupnik/workshop If you plan to attend the workshop (either presenting a paper or not), we would appreciate a short message to fradkin@tx.technion.ac.il, specifying the following information: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Name:____________________________________ Affiliation:_____________________________ Phone:___________________________________ Fax:_____________________________________ E-mail: _________________________________ (Please specify) I will attend / I may attend No obligation is involved in sending this message.
