Call for Papers: British Machine Vision Conference BMVC 98

University of Southampton UK, 14-17 Sept., 1998

Further information can be found at http://peipa.essex.ac.uk/BMVC98/

The British Machine Vision Conference is the main UK conference for machine
vision and related topics. The 9th BMVC will be held at the University of
Southampton in September 1998. High-quality papers are sought describing
recent and novel research in computer vision, image analysis and processing
or pattern recognition. Papers describing research being undertaken in
national or international collaborative projects are particularly welcome.
The conference is a single-track meeting with oral and poster
presentations. In addition to the contributed papers, there will be talks
by invited speakers, a pre-conference tutorial programme and the
opportunity to demonstrate your work.

Contributions are sought on novel aspects in machine vision and pattern
analysis, including:

image processing and feature extraction practical applications
object recognition and scene analysis model-based coding
 3D shape reconstruction architectures
computational issues in perception active vision
robotic vision and sensory fusion motion analysis
 advanced pattern analysis neural networks
 vision-based biometrics early vision

Full papers, not exceeding 10 printed pages (approx. 5000 words if there
are no figures), should be submitted for anonymous review. Electronic
submission is possible. Submit either 4 paper copies or an electronic
version via the World-Wide Web. Papers will be reviewed by the (elected)
BMVA Committee with a small number of specially co-opted members. By
submitting a paper to BMVC, the authors warrant that it, and any related
paper with essentially the same technical content, has not been and will
not be submitted to any other conference during the BMVC review period.
Papers will be accepted either for oral presentation or as posters. The
Proceedings (and a CD version) will be available to delegates at the
conference and a selection of the best papers will be published separately
in a special issue of Image and Vision Computing.
