CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

               IEEE International Workshop on Content-Based
Access of Image and Video Databases (CAIVD'98)
                     (in conjunction with ICCV'98)
Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India
                             3 January 1998

Content-based access of multimedia databases is a problem that is
attracting increasing attention from researchers in the computer
vision, image processing, database and information retrieval
communities. Robust content-based access of multimedia data involves
addressing the difficult issues of multimedia feature extraction, data
representation, organization, query formulation and search. This
workshop attempts to bring together researchers in these communities
that are addressing some fundamental issues in developing robust and
computationally effective content-based search of multimedia
databases.

The workshop received several high quality submissions and 10 papers have
been accepted for oral presentation after a fairly rigorous journal-style
review process. The accepted papers reflect state-of-the-art research in
content-based retrieval, and we hope you will find interesting theoretical
contributions as well as attempts to turn them into practical systems.

Thanks to Industrial sponsorship, it has been possible to keep the
registration fees low. Registration information for the workshop may be
found at http://secure.computer.org/conf/iccv/register.htm (email forms are
also available).
