                          LAST CALL FOR DEMOS/VIDEOS
Fourth IEEE Workshop on Applications of Computer Vision
                          October 19-21st 1998
                       Princeton, New Jersey, USA

WACV's demonstration session is an opportunity for both Academic and
Industrial members of the computer vision community to present and
exchange ideas in an interactive way.

The 1998 WACV's demonstration session, like the previous sessions
(http://www.cs.uchicago.edu/~frankel/WACV_Demo_Session/wacvdemo.html),
runs in an open house fashion. This encourages conference attendees
to ask questions and become part of the demonstration itself.

This year we would also like to provide an additional video
demonstration library. The conference attendees can go through the
catalogue and choose the video demonstration they are interested
in. They can watch these video demonstrations at any time during the
conference period.

Demos/Videos proposals are solicited on applications of computer
vision that include (but are not limited to) the topics listed below:

*visual database *image based rendering
*video mosaicing *cartography and GIS
*surveillance *3D sensing
*security & law enforcement
*space operations *object recognition
*highway/vehicle systems *robotics
*human-computer interaction *medical image analysis
*manufacturing *industrial inspection
*augmented reality *remote sensing
*document analysis & OCR *face & gesture image analysis

PROPOSAL GUIDELINES: The following describes the submission process
for the WACV'98 demonstration and video session. Proposals require
the presentation of all or some part of a working computer vision
application. We encourage both Industry and Academic organizations to
participate in this session.

If accepted, you will be asked to create a one-page paper on each
demonstration that will be published. Also, you will need to create a
poster to bring for use in the session.

In terms of equipment, WACV'98 will provide you with a space, tables,
chairs, eisel for poster, power cords, TV/VCRs. We will provide some
PCs and work stations. However, we encourage participants to bring as
much of their own equipment as possible.

This year there will be a Best WACV'98 Demonstration Award. The winner
will be chosen by the program committee and awarded during the
workshop's reception on October 19, 1998.

You are to submit the following items via Email to the WACV'98
demo/video chair by the published deadline.

I) Text Description: The first item, is in simple raw text and must
include the following information (Keep numbers notation in your email
text! ):
  1. Title of Demonstration
  2. Name of Organization, Address of Organization
3.List of Participants, Indicate Main Contact Person and Phone,
Email, Fax
  4. 1 page Description of Demonstration
  5. List of references (if available) on proposed demonstrated
system. (You may send copies if appropriate)
  6. Equipment you will bring with you.
  7. Equipment you are asking WACV'98 to try to provide.
  8. Average Time to Run a Demonstration.

II) Video Demonstration: You are also encouraged to send along a video
demonstration. The WACV'98 will also provide additional TV/VCRs and a
library of video demonstrations. The conference attendees will have
permanent access to this video demonstration library.
