--------------------------------------------------------------
The future is only one bridge and 16 blocks away!
You are invited to interact with tomorrow's information
technology during a special day hosted by Al (as
in Albert Einstein) on the Carnegie Mellon campus.
A wide variety of activities and demonstration will be
included, such as:
An interactive real time interview with virtual Albert Einstein
A museum tour guided by a mobile, articulate robot docent at the
Carnegie Museum of Natural History
Conversations in foreign languages using real-time language
translation
Singing with a computer orchestra that follows your every lead
change in real time
Searching for information contained in CNN Newsbroadcasts of the
Digital Library using oral, natural language inquiries
Autonomous vehicles on land and in the air
Experiencing and becoming prt of Virtual Worlds, including
Spider Man climbing downtown Pittsburgh Skyscrapers
Exploring over a half dozen Wearable Computers in applications from
highway bridges to airplanes
and many more virtual and mechanical entities (both on the ground and in
the air). Details will be posted on the conference web sites as the
program is finalized.
Transportation will be provided from ISWC on Wednesday morning,
21 October 98, with busses to the airport at the close of activities.
