Topic 12: Architectures and Algorithms for Vision and other Senses
---------
Topic Committee :
-----------------
Global chair : Virginio Cantoni (University of Pavia, Italy)
Vice-chair : Concettina Guerra (Purdue Univ., USA and
Padoa Univ., Italy)
Vice-chair : Pieter Jonker (TU Delft, The Netherlands)
Local chair : Alain Ayache (ENSEEIHT-IRIT, Toulouse, France)
Description :
-------------
Due to its extremely high performance requirements, Signal and Image
Processing (SIP) has always been one of the major application areas
and one of the driving forces behind the design of special-purpose
processors and massively parallel architectures. New challenges arise
from areas like computer vision or multi-media applications.
Submissions are invited from academia and industry on various aspects
of signal, image processing and vision: parallel architectures,
methods for designing parallel algorithms, languages and environments
for programming parallel architectures or for designing special-purpose
architectures, applications of parallel processing and architectures
and their development and design methodologies.
Topics of interest include :
----------------------------
parallel architectures and algorithms
dynamically reconfigurable architectures
parallel DSP systems
application specific parallel architectures
distributed processing for perception systems
embedded use of perception systems
methods and tools for the design of SIP architecture
languages, software environments and programming tools for SIP
computer vision and machine perception
smart sensors and sensor fusion
neural and evolutionary computations applied to machine
perception
parallel video servers
signal and image compression
dependability and security of SIP
Euro-Par conference series :
----------------------------
Euro-Par is the annual European conference on parallel computing. It
is dedicated to the promotion and advancement of all aspects of parallel
computing.
Euro-Par'99 is organized as a day of tutorials, two half-day plenary
sessions, and a number of parallel sessions.
