CONFERENCE LOCATION
The old historical centre of Venice in situated in north-eastern Italy,
four kilometers from the mainland, on 118 islands of the Venetian Lagoon.
Its singular appearance and wealth of art treasures make it unique. It
is crossed by more than 150 canals and 400 bridges.
Venice can be reached by car (to be left in one of the car parks on the
mainland); by train (the Santa Lucia railway station); by airplane (the
Marco Polo airport, about 13 Km from Venice).
The Conference venue is downtown Venice, at the 'Zitelle' Cultural Centre,
a complex of historical buildings designed by the great architect Andrea
Palladio (1508-1580) on the Giudecca island, facing St. Mark's Square.
It can be easily accessed by public boats from the railway station or the
car terminals.
