IEEE ICMCS is an annual conference aiming at bringing together researchers, developers and practitioners from academia and industry, working in Multimedia. The conference is devoted to presenting and exploring scientific and technological advancements and innovations in the area of Multimedia, as well as to demonstrate new opportunities in Multimedia applications. We encourage submissions of scientific and technical papers, panel, tutorial, workshop and poster proposals. SPECIAL ISSUE of MULTIMEDIA TOOLS AND APPLICATIONS JOURNAL - Best ranked papers of IEEE Multimedia Systems '99, presenting advanced multimedia applications are planned to appear on a special issue of Journal of Multimedia Tools and Applications, scheduled by Spring 2000. Authors of selected papers will be asked to prepare an extended version of their papers for a second review round ____________________________________________________________________ IEEE MULTIMEDIA SYSTEMS '99 SUBMISSION GUIDELINES _________________________________________________ TECHNICAL PAPERS - Technical paper presentations are scheduled to be presented on June 9-11, 1999 and will be published in the Conference Proceedings by IEEE. Submission of technical papers should not exceed 15 single-spaced pages (minimum 10-point typeface), including figures, tables and references. Prototype demonstrations can also be sent to supplement the papers. For the Special Session on European Projects, (see below) submit a 4-page extended summary of the project, including project participants and information, objectives and goals, scientific and technical aspects, and results achieved so far. Each submission must also include: - a cover sheet with the author names and affiliations; - surface and e-mail address of the corresponding author; - a 10-line long abstract of the paper content; - a list of max three keywords selected from the Conference. We are seeking for topics that examine innovative and timing subjects of Multimedia. Tutorial proposals should be at most 5 pages long and include a description of the subject matter and a short biography of the instructor. Submissions should include a two-page description of the demonstration, a demo sample on CD-ROM, WWW or VHS (if available), its technical requirements and a short biography of the demonstration responsible. EXHIBITS - The IEEE ICMCS'99 will offer multimedia vendors and publishers an opportunity to publicize their products and interface conference participants worldwide.
