ABOUT THE IEEE DSP and SIGNAL PROCESSING EDUCATION WORKSHOPS:
The two workshops will be held concurrently, but at nonoverlapping
times, at the Waldemar Resort Ranch in the Texas Hill Country on
October 15-18, 2000.

One registration allows access to both workshops!

The Ninth IEEE DSP Workshop continues the successful and
popular series of workshops designed to unite
top researchers from around the world
to discuss novel signal processing theories and methods.

This year, the first-ever IEEE Workshop on Signal Processing Education will
be held in
conjunction with the DSP Workshop; its goal is to bring together world-class
educators and thinkers to discuss all aspects of signal processing
education.
Each workshop will feature plenary speakers from prominent individuals in
the
signal processing community as well as technical sessions for presenting
contributed papers.

Potential authors are encouraged to submit four-page papers on topics
pertinent to the workshops.

Example paper topics for the DSP Workshop
include but are not limited to:

        Multiscale signal analysis
        Fast algorithms
        Adaptive systems
        Filter design and structures
        Signal Processing applications to Communications
        Biomedical signal processing
DSP and the Internet (e.g., voice over IP)
        New applications for DSP

Example paper topics for the SPE Workshop include but are not limited to:

        Goals of signal processing education
Novel laboratory, computer-based, and distance teaching methods
Signal processing education in non-traditional venues
        Pedagogy and curriculum issues
               theory vs. practical
               simulation vs. real time
early vs. late in the curriculum, etc.

PAPER SUBMISSION:
Submission and publication will be electronic. See the URL above for
details. Prospective authors are invited to send four-page papers
(final versions) for review for both workshops. The full four page
paper must be submitted by May 15, 2000. The proceedings will be made
available on the Web once the Workshop begins.

  Deadlines:
   Submission of four-page papers: May 15, 2000
Notification of acceptance: July 1, 2000
Advance Registration before: August 1, 2000
