The 6Th International Conference on Intelligent Autonomous Systems VENICE, ITALY, 25-27 July 2000 Homepage: http://www.dei.unipd.it/~ias6 Please, submit an extended abstract by December 31, 1999. Looking forward to meeting you in Venice The 6Th International Conference on Intelligent Autonomous Systems Venice, Italy, 25-27 July 2000 Supported by the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Society (IAS), the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AI*IA), the Italian Association of Robotics (SIRI, affiliated to IFR) Important Dates Submission of extended abstract: Dec 31, 1999 Acceptance notification: Feb 29, 2000 Camera-ready copy due: April 15, 2000 Early registration: April 15, 2000 We believe the years from 2000 onwards will be increasingly characterized by an extensive use of Intelligent Autonomous Systems. IAS-6 will be the first one in a long series of IAS Conferences to be held during this New Era. Therefore, we need to face new challenges by introducing new theoretical research issues and opening new application fields. To make IAS-6 a milestone in the advancement of the Intelligent Autonomous Systems science and technology, the City of Venice has been chosen as the host-site for IAS-6, because of its long tradition of favoring the exchanges between Eastern and Western cultures in the history of mankind. IAS-6 will take place at LeZitelle, a beautiful ancient building on the Giudecca Island just opposite San Marco's Square. An Honorary Lecture will be held in the historical Main Hall of The University of Padua. A Post-Conference Industrial Forum is being planned. We warmly welcome all representatives from industry, government, and academia to join us in Venice in July 2000! Topics include but are not limited to: Autonomous robots Behavior-based robotics Robot vision Robot sensing and data fusion Multi-agent systems Planning and control architectures Real-time computing Client-server systems Cooperative multi-robots Robot societies Human and robot skills Human-machine cooperation Mechatronics Cognitive robotics Evolutionary computation Biologically inspired systems Animat systems Emotion in robots Legged locomotion Humanoids Service robotics Healthcare and medical robots Learning and adaptive systems Collision avoidance and sensor-based control Robot in space, underwater, field and construction General Chair Enrico Pagello, The University of Padua, and Ladseb-CNR, Italy Steering Committee Chair Frans Groen, Univ. of Amsterdam, Holland Steering Committee Members Louis Hertzberger, Univ. of Amsterdam, Holland Hirochika Inoue, The Univ. of Tokyo, Japan Yukinori Kakazu, Hokkaido Univ., Japan Takeo Kanade, Carnegie Mellon Univ., USA Program Committee Co-Chairs America: Anthony Stentz, Carnegie Mellon University, USA Asia/Oceania: Tamio Arai, The University of Tokyo, Japan Europe/Africa: Ruediger Dillmann, The University of Karlsruhe, Germany International Program Committee Members Peter Allen, Columbia Univ., USA Marcelo Ang, Nat.
