THE VENUE

Los Angeles has been the capital of the entertainment and movie
industry for decades. During the past few years, it has witnessed
spectacular growth in the multimedia industry with many successful
companies providing both multimedia content and systems expertise.
The conference complements this setting by presenting and exploring
technological and artistic advancements in multimedia. Technical
issues, theory and practice, artistic and consumer innovations will
bring together researchers, artists, developers, educators,
performers, and practitioners of multimedia.

The conference will take place at the Marina Beach Marriot, "The
Ultimate Convention Hotel." The facility overlooks Marina del Rey and
the Pacific Ocean. Please check http://marriotthotels.com/LAXMB/ for
more information about its facilities and services.

TECHNICAL PROGRAM

The members of the organizing committee have worked hard to produce an
outstanding program. As in past years, the technical program includes
a broad range of the best current research in multimedia technology,
this year segregated into three areas: multimedia processing and
coding; multimedia systems support and networking; and multimedia
tools, end-systems and applications. The program includes 36 full
papers (17% acceptance rate), 36 short papers, and 19 leading edge
technical demonstrations. The best paper and best student paper will
be presented in a plenary award session at the conclusion of the
conference.

The full technical program is at:
