                          5th Fall Workshop

               VISION, MODELING AND VISUALIZATION 2000

                         November 22-24, 2000
              MPI fuer Informatik, Saarbruecken, Germany

                         in cooperation with:
                    IEEE Signal Processing Society
                   Gesellschaft fuer Informatik GI

Setting:
------------
This workshop is the fifth in a series of annual meetings organized by
the Graduate Research Center "3-D Image Analysis and Synthesis" and
the SFB 603 "Model-based Analysis and Visualization of Complex Scenes
and Sensor Data" at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Three of
these meetings were held in Erlangen, one previous meeting was held in
Alpbach, Austria. In 2000, the meeting is for the first time jointly
organized with the newly established Computer Graphics Group at the
Max-Planck-Institut fuer Informatik and will be held in Saarbruecken,
Germany. The program will consist of invited talks by internationally
renowned speakers, as well as contributed papers.

The workshop will address the following topics:
-----------------------------------------------

  - 3-D imaging
  - Object localization and recognition
  - Volume data processing and visualization
  - Multisensor fusion and 3-D registration
  - 3-D structure from motion and stereo
  - Geometry-based and image-based rendering
  - Geometric modeling
  - Scene modeling and integration
  - Multiview image processing and coding
  - Applications (medical, robotics, fluid mechanics, manufacturing,
automated inspection, virtual reality, communication etc.)

Paper Submission:
-----------------

Prospective attendees are invited to submit a paper up to 8 pages
in final form. All submissions will be reviewed. Accepted papers will appear
in the workshop digest as submitted. Authors should obtain the
author's kit (including LaTeX style-file) from

               http://www.mpi-sb.mpg.de/units/ag4/vmv00

The author's kit provides complete information relative to the
submission process. It is the intention of the Committee to conduct
all communication with authors electronically. Questions should be directed to
vmv00@mpi-sb.mpg.de.

Authors' Schedule:
------------------

Well ahead of deadline: Obtain author's kit and LaTeX style-file
  April 30, 2000: Paper submission
June 30, 2000: Notification of acceptance
  August 31, 2000: Registration deadline
