-------------------------------------- Internet Multimedia Management Systems -------------------------------------- SPIE Photonics East International Symposium on Voice, Video, and Data Communications 5 - 8 November, 2000 Boston, Massachusetts USA Abstracts (250 words) due by 10 April 2000 http://www.spie.org/web/meetings/calls/pe00/confs/VV10.html -----------------CALL FOR PAPERS-------------------- Advances in multimedia technologies and the Internet have stimulated a tremendous growth in systems for searching, filtering, and indexing multimedia data. These systems are finding diverse applications in areas such as education, entertainment, medicine, remote sensing and on-line information services. The tremendous growth of E-commerce on the Internet is driving many additional requirements for multimedia systems. The recently initiated ISO MPEG-7 standard promises to enable interoperability for audio-visual content. However, there is an urgent need for building new hardware and software systems for multimedia management and developing efficient methods for searching, browsing, retrieving, indexing, and storing multimedia data for a diversity of applications on the Internet. TOPICS: ------ Papers are solicited in all areas of Internet Multimedia Management Systems including, but not limited to: - Image, video and audio databases - Hardware design and implementation multimedia information systems - Graphics and video database processors - Multimedia for E-commerce applications - Query processing and content-based searching - Video and audio parsing, segmentation and analysis - Multi-modal analysis (text, audio, image and video) - Data modeling and representation - Multimedia content description standards, i.e., MPEG-7, DICOM - Indexing and archiving techniques storage design and compression for archiving - Lossless and near-lossless compression - 3D representation and display techniques on the Web - Image/video transmission and distribution over Internet and intranets - Media adaptation and presentation - User interfaces - Performance evaluation measures - Long-term preservation methodology and quality assurance management - Video on demand (VoD) and media servers - Fault tolerance, clustering and security and integrity of media databases - Experimental prototypes embodying the state-of-the-art in multimedia information systems - Applications: entertainment, education, financial services, health care, retailing, telemedicine, remote sensing, GIS, Interactive TV, CAD, digital libraries, and so forth PAPER SUBMISSIONS: ----------------- Abtracts of 250 words should be submitted electronically via the Internet Multimedia Management Systems conference Web site at http://www.spie.org/web/meetings/calls/pe00/confs/VV10.html If unable to submit electronically, hardcopies of abstracts may be sent to John R.
