C A L L f o r P A P E R I S M R 2001 ============= The First International Symposium on Mixed Reality http://www.mr-system.co.jp/ismr/2001/ Co-sponsored by: Virtual Reality Society of Japan !!!!!! Mixed Reality Systems Laboratory Inc. March 14-15, 2001 Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama, Japan ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ISMR2001 is the successor to the very successful symposium ISMR'99 which was held in Yokohama, Japan in March 1999. ISMR'99 was the first international symposium focusing on the field of mixed reality (MR), and the symposium attracted more than 200 participants from all over the world to discuss component technologies and integration methodologies for realizing mixed reality environments. ISMR2001 will be held jointly with IEEE Virtual Reality 2001 at the same conference site. The dual purposes of this second symposium is to review the progress of research in the field of mixed reality during the previous two-year period and to define new re-search frontiers and goals in this rapidly evolving field of mixed reality. Selected papers from the proceedings of this symposium will be collected in a Special Issue on Mixed Reality of PRESENCE: Teleoperator and Virtual Environment published by MIT Press. PROGRAM ======= The program will consist of high quality contributed papers on all aspects of mixed reality. Original manuscripts on topics in (but not restricted to) the following categories are solicited: - augmented reality - augmented virtuality - image-based rendering - geometrical registration - photometrical registration - computer vision and computer graphics for MR - wearable computers and displays - 3D/haptic display system - position and orientation sensory systems - applications and systems of MR PAPER SUBMISSION ================ Five (5) copies of complete, anonymous manuscripts must be sub-mitted no later than October 2, 2000 to the following address: Yuichi Ohta - ISMR2001- Institute of Engineering Mechanics and Systems University of Tsukuba 1-1-1 Ten-nodai, Tsukuba, Ibaraki 305-8573, Japan TEL: +81-298-53-5515 FAX: +81-298-53-5207 Email: ohta@image.esys.tsukuba.ac.jp Submitted papers must be no longer than eight (8) pages including figures and references in the specified format. Papers exceeding this length limit may be rejected with-out review. Complete instructions and a style file of the format in LaTeX and MS Word are available from the conference web page. All reviewing for ISMR2001 will be carried out double blind. Therefore, the paper should exclude any information which compromises the anonym-ity of the authors. The paper should be submitted along with one cover sheet which includes (1) the title of the paper, (2) the names of the authors, (3) five keywords, and (4) the name, mailing address, telephone and fax number, and e-mail address of the contact author. POSTER & DEMO SUBMISSION ======================== The opportunity for the presentation of the latest research results will be provided as a poster session and/or technical demonstra-tions. A short paper of two-page length will be included in the pro-ceedings for an accepted poster. Interested authors are asked to submit the followings no later than December 4, 2000 to the fol-lowing address: Koichi Hirota -ISMR2001- Intelligent Cooperative Systems Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo 4-6-1 Komaba, Meguro-ku, Tokyo 153-8904 JAPAN TEL: +81-3-5452-5196 FAX: +81-3-3469-2397 Email: hirota@cyber.rcast.u-tokyo.ac.jp Each submission should include (1) the title of the proposed poster and/or demonstration, (2) the names of the authors, (3) a brief ab-stract and keywords, (4) the name, mailing address, telephone and fax number, and e-mail address of the contact author, and (5) ac-companying video (optional).
