CALL FOR PAPERS

8th International Workshop on Combinatorial Image Analysis (IWCIA 2001)

Temple University Center City Conference Center
                         Philadelphia, U.S.A.

                        August 23 - 24, 2001

IWCIA 2001 is the eighth in a series of workshops on parallel and
combinatorial image analysis. Previous meetings took place in Paris
(France, 1991), Ube (Japan, 1992), Washington DC (USA, 1994), Lyon
(France, 1995), Hiroshima (Japan, 1997), Madras (India, 1999) and Caen
(France, 2000).

The meeting will be a forum for current work on topics such as the
following:

    Discrete geometry; digital topology.
Array, graph and parallel grammars; cellular automata.
    Tilings and patterns.
Combinatorial methods in image analysis; combinatorial problems
    in the discrete plane.
    Integer-only algorithms for image analysis.
Parallel algorithms and parallel architectures for image analysis.
    Discrete tomography.

Prospective authors are invited to submit a paper on any of the above,
or a closely related topic, for a 25-minute presentation at the
workshop. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the
"Instructions for Authors" section of the IWCIA 2001 website
http://www.csam.temple.edu/~iwcia and should not be longer than 20
pages. Authors are encouraged to submit electronically by e-mailing a
postscript file (which must be viewable by Ghostview*) of the
manuscript to
                       iwcia@csam.temple.edu
no later than April 1, 2001. Alternatively, authors may submit by
sending 5 hardcopies of their manuscript to Gabor Herman at the
address shown below; in this case the hardcopies must arrive by April
1, 2001.

Authors will be notified of acceptance by June 1, 2001; the final
versions of accepted papers must be received by July 15, 2001 for
inclusion in the Proceedings of the workshop. Each participant will
receive a copy of the Proceedings at the workshop. After the meeting,
authors of selected papers will be invited to submit to a special
issue of the journal Discrete Applied Mathematics that will be devoted
to papers from this workshop.

*Information on how to obtain Ghostview is given in the "Instructions
for Authors" section of the IWCIA 2001 website at
            http://www.csam.temple.edu/iwcia/authors.html
