----------------------------------------------------------------------- ***** FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS ***** ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 2001 IEEE-EURASIP WORKSHOP ON NONLINEAR SIGNAL AND IMAGE PROCESSING June 3-6, 2001 Hyatt Regency Baltimore Baltimore, Maryland USA www.ece.udel.edu/nsip NSIP-01 is the fifth biennial international workshop on nonlinear signal and image processing. The workshop provides a unique, high quality forum for the presentation and discussion of technical advances in nonlinear methods for a wide array of communications, signal, bio systems, image and multimedia processing applications. WORKSHOP TOPICS: ---------------- * Order statistic type filters: medians, weighted medians, stack filters, etc. * Morphological signal/image processing and analysis * Robust signal processing * Higher Order Statistics, Volterra and general polynomial type filters * Lower Order Statistics, alpha-stable processes * Stable process modeling, including Internet traffic applications * Nonlinear methods in communications * Nonlinear methods in array and multichannel signal processing * Halftoning and digital printing * Nonlinear time-frequency methods * Bio systems processing applications * Image, video, audio, and multimedia applications KEYNOTE SPEAKERS AND SPECIAL SESSIONS: -------------------------------------- Keynote presentations will cover various perspectives on the wireless communications industry and technologies and include presentations by * David Farber, Chief Technologist at the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) * Vincent Poor, Professor of Electrical Engineering, Princeton University Special technical sessions will feature invited speakers in the following areas: * Signal Processing in Heavy-Tailed, Stable Distribution, Noise Chairs: Ananthram Swamai and Brian Sadler, Army Research Laboratory * Bioinformatic Signal Processing Chair: Ilya Shmulevich, Tampere University of Technology * Outliers And Missing Data in Dynamic Analysis Chair: Ron Pearson, Institut fur Automatik, ETH, Zurich * Nonlinear Methods in Communications Chair: Visa Koivunen, Helsinki Univ. of Technology * Digital Halftoning Chair: Daniel Lau, University of Delaware * Nonlinear Methods for Signal Resolution Enhancement Chairs: Robert Stevenson, Notre Dame University, and Russell Hardie, University of Dayton WORKSHOP SETTING: ----------------- The workshop location, the Inner Harbor of Baltimore, is among the most enjoyable sites in the United States. The maritime attractions, historic quarters, and closely knit neighborhoods provide an engaging backdrop for a diverse set of attractions including the restored Inner Harbor waterfront, the National Aquarium, and top rated museums and sporting attractions. SUBMISSION PROCEDURES: ---------------------- Authors are invited to visit http://www.ece.udel.edu/nsip/, to fill in submission forms and submit their papers electronically in PDF format. A 2-3 page summary of the paper, including title, authors' names and affiliations, figures, results, and references are requested. Once submissions are accepted, authors will be required to prepare a final camera-ready paper (5-page limit) for publication in the workshop proceedings. A LaTeX style file for the camera-ready format is available on the NSIP-01 WWW site. AUTHOR'S SCHEDULE: ------------------ Paper proposals due November 1, 2000 Notification of paper acceptance January 26, 2001 Camera-ready papers due March 16, 2001 Check the NSIP-01 WWW site for up-to-date information on paper proposals and status, workshop registration, special sessions, keynote speakers, and travel information. http://www.ece.udel.edu/nsip/ WORKSHOP CHAIRS AND COMMITTEES: ------------------------------- CONFERENCE CHAIRS Kenneth Barner Gonzalo Arce University of Delaware University of Delaware Tel: +1-302-831-6937 Tel: +1-302-831-8030 barner@ece.udel.edu arce@ece.udel.edu FINANCE Xiang Xia University of Delaware Tel: +1-302-831-8038 xxia@ece.udel.edu PUBLICITY Moncef Gabbouj Tampere University of Technology moncef.gabbouj@tut.fi PUBLICATIONS Charles Boncelet Daniel Lau University of Delaware University of Delaware Tel: +1-302-831-8008 Tel: +1-302-831-3280 boncelet@ece.udel.edu lau@ece.udel.edu ORGANIZING COMMITTEE Neal Gallagher Saleem Kassam Edward J.
