Call for Papers:
International Workshop on Very Low Bitrate Video Coding (VLBV 01)
Theme: Visual Content Representation and Analysis

Purpose of the Workshop
The purpose of this workshop is to provide an international forum for
discussion of video representation and coding techniques being developed
for MPEG-4, MPEG-7 and MPEG-21 standards. Applications include videophone,
teleconferencing, and telecollaboration, video streaming, video over IP
and mobile networks, wireless, and Internet applications, interactive
multimedia databases, remote sensing and surveillance and communications
aids for the hearing impaired. To focus discussion, the main theme of the
workshop is:
Visual Content Analysis and Coding.

Topics of special interest include
-Feature extraction
-Representation and coding
-3D modeling and virtual reality
-Coding of topological data (meshes, boundaries, etc.)
-Content-based segmentation
-Face's encoding & analysis, non verbal information processing
-Content classification and identification.
-Content-based indexing and retrieval, video browsing and summarization
-Semantic analysis for audiovisual retrieval
-Image/video analysis for wireless/ IP networks

To facilitate the exchange of ideas and discussion, the workshop will
include 4 invited panels with the following topics:
a) Image Representation, Analysis and Coding,
b) MPEG-7 and MPEG-21 Developments and Prospects,
c) Non-Verbal Information Processing & HCI,
d) Mobile, Wireless and Internet Communications.

Panelists will include Steering Committee members and well-known
Researchers. Contributed papers will be presented as posters. An
exhibition will take place during the Workshop with demonstrations from
related European projects.

Time and Venue of the Workshop
The two-day workshop is scheduled right after the IEEE International
Conference on Image Processing (Thessaloniki, Greece)and will be held at
Divani Caravel Hotel, Athens, Greece.
