Advancing Biometric Technologies
http://www.bmva.ac.uk/meetings

One Day BMVA symposium at the Royal Statistical Society, 12 Errol
Street, London, UK on 6th March 2002

To be chaired by: Josef Kittler (University of Surrey) and Mark Nixon
(University of Southampton)

Biometrics continue to increase in importance, not just for their unique
combination of performance and speed but also for an increasing need for
better security. Face, iris and handprint technology can now be found at
several airports; fingerprint security continues to increase. This is a
superb track record, especially in view of the short history of
biometric technology.

We seek contributions on advancements to biometrics, to the technology
or to its applications. We would like you to provide an extended summary
that is two A4 pages, max., and which can link to web based
illustrations or demonstration material. We'd like your paper(s)
submitted by email attachment to Mark (msn@ecs.soton.ac.uk) by 20 Jan
2002.

We'll certainly have oral presentations. If we're overwhelmed by
submissions we'll have a poster session. (We'll web the papers too, as
usual.) We're also approaching some biometrics systems manufacturers for
a display so we can have a complete coverage on this fascinating and
fast-moving subject. As such we're aiming for a meeting that satisfies
commercial and academic interest and we welcome you to take part.
