IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology
Special Issue on Image- and Video-Based Biometrics
Call For Papers
Over the past two decades, image- and video-based biometrics as a research
field has experienced exponential growth. In addition to such traditional
techniques as face and fingerprint recognition, many image- and video-based
techniques using iris, hand-shape, palm-print, gait, signature, and multi-modal
analysis have been developed. The forge-resistant nature of biometric
technology
makes it an ideal technology for applications ranging from forensic
investigation for law enforcement, personal identification for secure access
control, to video surveillance for public places. Biometric technology has
increasingly become a viable addition to traditional identification technology.
The goal of this special issue is to collate the efforts and major achievements
of scientists working on different biometric authentication techniques in an
attempt to contribute to robust solutions to the many challenging problems in
the area. High quality research papers are solicited to address theoretical as
well as practical issues related to the Special Issue's theme. Topics of
interest include but are not limited to:
1. Face/Fingerprint/Hand/Iris/Gait/Signature and any other image- and
video-based biometrics
2. Multi-modal biometrics and fusion
3. Multi-algorithmic and multi-expert techniques
4. Performance evaluation methodologies, protocols and comparative benchmark
results
5. New devices and applications
