   Eurographics 2002 - the annual conference of the European
   Association for Computer Graphics - will be held in Saarbruecken
   (Germany) from September 2 until September 6, 2002, and is hosted
   by the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Informatik and the Universitaet
   des Saarlands.

   IMPORTANT DATES

   Paper abstracts due:                         January 30, 2002
   Submission deadline for full papers,
   STAR proposals, tutorial proposals:          February 4, 2002
   Author notification:                         March 19, 2002
   Submission of short presentations:           April 10, 2002
   Notification for short presentations:        May 14, 2002

                             FULL PAPERS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   Abstract due:                January 30, 2002
   Full paper submission:       February 4, 2002
   Author notification:         March 19, 2002
   Final version due:           April 8, 2002

   Authors are invited to submit original papers reporting research
   contributions, practice and experience, or novel applications. In
   contrast to previous years a preliminary abstract is due by
   January 30, 2002, to facilitate the selection of the reviewers and
   to speed up the reviewing process. Paper submission will be
   electronic, but authors may also submit additional material (VHS
   video, CD-ROM). Submission details are available on the EG 2002

   Given the limited time between submission and final version,
   papers will be evaluated by the International Programme Committee
   "as submitted"; if significant improvement is required a paper
   will be rejected.

   Authors are requested to include a declaration that their paper
   has not been submitted to any other conference or journal and
   that they are prepared to present their paper at the conference.
   Papers must be written and presented in English. Papers should
   not exceed 10 A4 pages in length.

   Conference proceedings will be published as the third issue of
   Computer Graphics Forum, volume 21, both on paper and
   electronically, and will be available to all the conference
   participants.

   The Guenther Enderle Award:
   ---------------------------

   An international jury will select the three best papers accepted
   and presented at the conference. The best of the three will
   receive the Guenther Enderle Award, including a cash prize of
   1,000 CHF.

   Best Student Paper Award:
   -------------------------

   An award will be given to the best paper authored and presented at
   the conference by a full time student.

                       STATE-OF-THE-ART REPORTS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   Proposals for STARs are invited by February 4, 2002. State of the
   Art Reports (STARs) covering topics in research, practice, and
   applications, will be included in the conference programme. STARs
   are typically of 90 minutes duration and will be printed in a
   separate volume given to all conference participants.

                              TUTORIALS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   Submission of tutorial proposals: February 4, 2002. International
   experts will give tutorials providing in-depth instructions on a
   variety of topics. Tutorials range from introductory and refresher
   topics to cutting-edge technologies.

   A tutorial proposal should contain the following information: 

   * A detailed outline of the tutorial. 
   * A statement of the necessary background and potential target
     audience for the tutorial.
   * Duration of the tutorial. 
   * A brief resume of the presenter(s) indicating their background
     in the tutorial area.

                     SHORT / POSTER PRESENTATIONS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   Short/Poster Presentation proposal due: April 10,
   2002. Notification for short presentations: May 14, 2002. Authors
   are invited to submit proposals for a poster presentation of late
   results, work in progress, and new ideas. Proposals should be 5 to
   10 pages in length. Proposals accepted as short presentations will
   be printed in a separate volume, available to all conference
   participants.

                         INDUSTRIAL SEMINARS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   Industrial seminars will take place to present industrially led
   computer graphics research projects and applications. Key
   industrialists from sectors such as aerospace, automotive, and
   games industry will be sharing their experience in applying
   computer graphics to solve industrial problems.

                          LAB PRESENTATIONS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   Major German and European research labs in the area of computer
   graphics are invited to present their group, their work and
   projects to the conference participants. Please contact the lab
   presentation co-chairs for details.

                          MULTIMEDIA CONTEST
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   The John Lansdown Award Competition:
   ------------------------------------

   John Lansdown was an inspirational figure in European Computer
   Graphics. Following his death in 1999, Eurographics is awarding a
   multimedia prize in his honor. The panel will judge multimedia
   products and projects submitted on CD-ROM for their originality
   and flair in the use of graphics, sound and interaction. Further
   details will become available at the conference web page.
