Call for Papers
Graphics Interface 2002 (GI) will be held at the University of Calgary on
May 27-29, 2002, in conjunction with the Vision Interface 2002 (VI) and
Artificial Intelligence 2002 (AI) conferences. Graphics Interface is the
oldest continuously scheduled computer graphics conference. This event
consistently attracts high-quality papers on recent advances in computer
graphics, interactive systems, and human computer interaction topics from
around the world. GI 2002 will be the 28th Graphics Interface conference.
A single registration will permit attendees to attend any talk from the
three conferences, which will be scheduled in three parallel tracks. The
conference will also include a banquet, a video show (for which both
research and artistic submissions are requested), a posters and demos
session, a bus trip to Banff (including a visit to the Banff Arts Centre)
on May 26th, and three invited speakers.
Calgary, besides being close to the beautiful mountain area around Banff,
also has excellent museums (including world-famous fossil exhibits at the
Calgary Science Centre) and an international airport.

All papers will be peer-reviewed, and if accepted, will be printed and
published directly from their revised electronic form. PDF versions of all
papers will also be archived on the GI web site.
Papers, formatted as they should appear in the final proceedings, should be
submitted to the GI web site by November 19, 2001. Submissions must be in
the form of PDF files; please see the web site for detailed submission
instructions and to obtain the author's kit, which includes style files for
pdflatex and Word as well as detailed formatting instructions. In
exceptional cases, traditional hardcopy submissions will be accepted;
please contact one of the conference co-chairs.

Refereeing will be double-blind. Only the title, without any indication of
the author's identity, should be included on submitted manuscripts.
Authors' identities will be tracked by the web-based submission system.
Additional material (such as movies) may also be uploaded during the
submission process. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be emailed
to the contact author by February 18, 2002. Final submissions of accepted
papers will be due March 22, 2002.
Accepted papers will be published in an archival-quality proceedings
directly from revised PDF files submitted by the authors, using a
high-resolution 2540dpi imagesetter and process colour. The proceedings
will be distributed by ACM, Morgan-Kaufmann, and CIPS. Exceptionally good
papers will be forwarded to a journal for consideration; arrangements exist
with Computer Graphics Forum for graphics papers and with Behaviour and
Information Technology for user interface papers.
The conference will also include a Posters and Demos session. The deadline
for submitting a poster will be March 1, 2002, and should include a
preliminary PDF or Powerpoint version of the poster as well as an extended
2-page abstract in conference format. Poster abstracts will not be
published or archived on the web site, but will be made available to
conference attendees in a bound format. Poster presenters will be
encouraged to bring along a demo of their work if possible.
Submissions to the Video Show will also be due March 1, 2002. Videos of
both research results and containing artistic content are requested. Videos
will be shown only to conference attendees but will not be otherwise
duplicated or published. For submission details for both posters and
