ISWC website. See the web site http://iswc.tinmith.net for more details
and how send a support video.

Please address any questions about paper submissions to one of the Program
Co-chairs, either Bruce Thomas (bruce.thomas@unisa.edu.au) or Mark Smith
(msmith@hpl.hp.com).

POSTERS

We invite researchers, especially students, to submit summaries for
posters that describe current work related to wearable computing. The
number of posters that are accepted for the conference will be limited by
available space. To apply to present a poster, please do the following:

* Write a summary of the research project that you plan to describe in your
poster. Please describe the problem, your approach, and the significance
of your results. The summary should not exceed two two-column conference
pages (approximately 1,000 words) in length. Be sure to include the poster
author names, affiliations, addresses, telephone numbers, and electronic
mail addresses. Also, identify the contact person for the poster. When you
write your paper use the IEEE format that is described at
http://www.computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm

* By May 6, 2002, submit the abstract and contact information of the poster
electronically via the ISWC website, and submit the poster summary
electronically as a PDF file, via the ISWC website.

Please address any questions about poster submissions to one of the
Program Co-chairs, either Bruce Thomas (bruce.thomas@unisa.edu.au) or Mark
Smith (msmith@hpl.hp.com).

PANELS

We invite you to openly debate a wearable related issue with a group of
experts. A panel offers an opportunity for 3-5 people (including the
chair) to present their views or results on a common theme, issue, or
question. Panels should cover timely topics related to the conference
areas of interest. Panel selection will be based on the importance,
originality, focus and timeliness of the topic; expertise of proposed
panelists; as well as the potential for informative (and even
controversial) discussion. A panel summary and position statements will be
included in the proceedings. Panels must allot at least 50% of the time
for interaction and discussion with the audience. To submit a panel
proposal, do the following:

* Write a summary that describes what you plan to discuss. The summary
should also include a description of the panel topic, including why this
topic is important to the ISWC Conference attendees; 1-3 pages, and a
brief position statement and qualifications of each panelist; 1 - 3 pages.
Be sure to include the contact names, affiliations, addresses, telephone
numbers, electronic mail addresses, and associated URL (if any).

* By May 6, 2002, submit the summary as a PDF file and contact information
of the panel electronically via the ISWC website. See the web site for
details.

Please address any questions about poster submissions to one of the
Program Co-chairs, either Bruce Thomas (bruce.thomas@unisa.edu.au) or Mark
Smith (msmith@hpl.hp.com).

CORPORATE / PERSONAL CASE STUDIES

We invite you to present your recent wearable developments and
applications, inform the audience of your future directions, discuss
wearable related business issues, or showcase your noteworthy wearable
products and services. Corporate/Personal Case Studies are not included in
the Proceedings and require no formal printed materials.

* Write a one-paragraph-long summary that describes what you plan to
discuss. Be sure to include the contact names, affiliations, addresses,
telephone numbers, electronic mail addresses, and associated URL for the
company (if any).

* By May 6, 2002, submit the summary as a PDF file and your contact
information of the electronically via the ISWC website. See the web site
for details.

Please address any questions about corporate or personal case studies to
the Industry Relations Chair, Chandra Narayanaswami (chandras@us.ibm.com).

TUTORIALS / WORKSHOPS (3 hours)

We invite you to share your wearable related knowledge with other
conference attendees. Tutorials and Workshops are intended to enhance the
skills and broaden the perspective of their attendees. They should be
designed to introduce a rigorous framework for learning a new area or to
provide advanced technical training in an area. Workshops differ from
tutorials in as much as they may include a wider range of activities such
as working position groups, hands-on experiences with hardware/software
provided, or standards efforts. Possible examples include conducting
usability studies, introduction to augmented reality, designing
speech-based interfaces, or wireless networking technology. To apply to
give a tutorial or workshop, do the following:

* Write a summary that describes what you plan to teach/workshop. Include a
clear description of the objectives, the intended audience (experience
level and prerequisites), a 200-word abstract, a 1-page topical outline of
the content, and a summary of the instructor's qualifications. Be sure to
include the contact names, affiliations, addresses, telephone numbers,
electronic mail addresses, and associated URL for the company (if any).

* By May 6, 2002, submit the summary, outline, qualification statement, and
contact information of the workshop electronically as a PDF file to the
web site http://iswc.tinmith.net

Please address any questions about tutorial or workshop submissions to the
General Chair, Mark Billinghurst (grof@hitl.washington.edu).

EXHIBITIONS

We invite you to exhibit your products, fashion designs, services, or
research projects during the conference. Exhibitions will be available
continuously in a room (or rooms) near the meeting room. Exhibitors will
show their products and distribute promotional literature to interested
conference attendees. For further information, please see
http://iswc.tinmith.net

The number of exhibitors that are accepted for the conference will be
limited by available space. To apply to be an exhibitor, please do the
following:

* Write a summary of the product, service, or research project that you hope
to exhibit. Describe why it will interest the conference attendees. The
summary should not exceed 500 words (one page) in length. Be sure to
include in the summary the exhibitor names, affiliations, addresses,
telephone numbers, electronic mail addresses, and URL. Also, identify the
contact person for the exhibition.

* By May 6, 2002, submit the summary and contact information for the
exhibition electronically (by email) to the web site
http://iswc.tinmith.net

Please address any questions about exhibiting at ISWC 2002 to the Exhibits
Chair, Eric Seibel (eseibel@hitl.washington.edu)

DEMONSTRATIONS

Unlike the more formal exhibitions, demonstrations will be on a space- and
time-available basis at the symposium. This is an opportunity to show
prototype hardware and works in progress to colleagues for comment in a
relaxed atmosphere. Paper presenters are highly encouraged to demonstrate
their work after their respective sessions. Accommodations (power, space,
etc.) will be limited, so participants should plan to be mobile and
self-supported. To apply to perform an informal demonstration, please do
the following:

* Write a one-page-long summary that describes what you plan to
demonstrate. Include pictures and diagrams so that your proposed
demonstration can be clearly understood, and include a clear description
of the power and space requirements. Be sure to include the demonstration
contact names, affiliations, addresses, telephone numbers, electronic mail
addresses, and URL for the demonstration (if any).

* By May 6, 2002, submit the summary and contact information for the
demonstration electronically as a PDF file via the web site
http://iswc.tinmith.net Please address any questions about demonstration
submissions to the Demonstrations Chair, Yohan Baillot
(baillot@ait.nrl.navy.mil).

GADGET SHOW

The Gadget Show has been quite popular in previous years, so we are going
to do it again. Come to the conference with your best toys for an informal
show-and-tell. The exact date and time for this event will be announced
later.
