1. INVITATION TO ATTEND

We invite you to attend the 2002-Symposium of Commission III ("Theory
and Algorithms") of theInternational Society for Photogrammetry and
Remote Sensing ISPRS, and to present your scientific work. The
symposium is held every 4 years and in 2002 will be at the beautiful
Graz Congress Center.

Embedded in the open scientific program are the results of 9 working
groups, ranging from sensorpose determination to the creation of
virtual environemnts.

2. CALL FOR PAPERS

The Symposium "Photogrammetric Computer Vision 2002" is shaping up and
issues this first Call for Papers. We are looking for submissions of
full papers or extended abstracts of at least 1000 words.

FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS: Full papers are solicited to be considered for
oral presentation at the symposium. The manuscripts will be submitted
to a double blind review for acceptance. In case of success, this will
lead to a "peer reviewed" publication.

FOR POSTER PRESENTATIONS: Poster contributions will require an
extended abstract of about 1000 words. It will be subjected to a
simplyfied review. Still, upon acceptance of the abstract a full paper
version will be needed for inclusion in the proceedings.

PROCEEDINGS: All papers (from oral presentations and posters) will be
published as a printed book and be provided on a CD as well. This will
be available at the time of the conference.

Please mark your calendar with the following DEADLINES:

Receipt of full papers or extended abstracts: March 15th, 2002
Notification of acceptance: May 31st, 2002
Submission of final papers: July 31st, 2002

Please send your abstracts preferably in digital form by email to
office@icg.tu-graz.ac.at.Other options are by fax to +43 316 873 5050
or by snailmail to: ICG - Institute for Computer Graphics and Vision,

3. THE SYMPOSIUM

In terms of technology, this is a more tumultuous time than ever
before, where computers are changing the way we work, play and
experience life. This affects many of our beliefs. We see the
relationship between photogrammetry & remote sensing and computer
vision as a defining and important issue. Photogrammetrists with an
interest in computer vision, and computer vision specialists intrigued
by photogrammetry, should present their views and stimulate a
discussion about the "Theories and Algorithms".

The symposium week will be organized as follows:

Tutorials: Monday, September 9th, 2002
Symposium: Tuesday through Thursday, September 10th to 12th, 2002
Excursion: Friday, September 13th, 2002

4. SYMPOSIUM VENUE

The baroque downtown Graz Congress Center with its noble facilities
and adjoining Casino will be the venue. This is right in the center of
town, next to the main square, and the city's landmark castle hill
with clock tower and also near to major hotels.

Graz is the second largest city in Austria and the capital of the
south-eastern province of Styria. It is a cosy but still modern city,
with three universities. The historic center is a "world heritage"
site, and the beautiful surrounding landscape offers many
opportunities for excursions. Graz is within 2 hours drive from the
Austrian metropole Vienna.
