CALL FOR PAPERS CIVR2003 International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval Website: http://www.civr.org July 24-25, 2003 Beckman Institute University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Urbana, IL 61801 USA IMPORTANT DATES March 3, 2003: Submission of full paper (extended) April 7, 2003: Notification of acceptance May 1, 2003: Camera-ready full paper GENERAL INFORMATION As digital imagery and video become prevalent it will be necessary to have effective methods and paradigms to browse, share, and search for visual content. In cooperation with the IEEE Multimedia Signal Processing TC, we are seeking scientific papers which illuminate important topics or introduce novel techniques in the area of image and video retrieval. A unique feature of this conference is the high level of interaction between international researchers and practitioners. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: - Query models, paradigms, and languages for image/video retrieval - Content-based indexing, search and retrieval of images & video - Human perception based image/video retrieval - Image/video search and browsing on the Web - Similarity measures between images/video - Semantic retrieval of images and video - Evaluation of image and video retrieval systems - Studies of information-seeking behaviour among image/video users - HCI issues in image/video retrieval - Database architectures for image/video retrieval - High performance image/video indexing algorithms - Novel image data management systems and applications - Affective/Emotional interaction - Interfaces for image/video retrieval - Interaction with medical image databases - Satellite imagery analysis/retrieval - Image/Video summarization and visualization - Learning and Relevance Feedback in image/video retrieval PAPER SUBMISSION Email full papers (no longer than 10 pages in the Springer LNCS style in English), to civr@liacs.nl with the following information: (1) Title of paper & short abstract summarizing the main contribution (2) Names and contact info of all authors, also specifying the contact author. (3) The paper in postscript or PDF format. It is intended that the proceedings will be published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS).
