DICTA 2003 is the seventh biennial conference on Digital Image
Computing - Techniques and Applications to be held in Sydney by
the Australian Pattern Recognition Society. The conference will
feature keynote addresses, technical presentations. Keynote
speeches will be delivered by experts in the fields.

*PAPER SUBMISSIONS*
- Prospective authors are invited to submit their full papers
electronically at the conference web site or directly at
( http://spot.cmis.csiro.au/DICTA2003/ ) before 11 August 2003.
Papers are limited to a maximum of ten (10) pages. Authors of
accepted papers, or at least one of them, should be registered
and are expected to present their work at the conference.
- The conference proceedings will be available at the conference
in paper and CD forms. Papers will also be available on the web.
- Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit revised
versions of their papers to be considered for publication in a
special issue of the Image and Vision Computing journal published by
Elsevier.
*BEST PAPER PRIZES*
DICTA 2003 will have two best paper awards: one for best paper, and
one for best student paper. The award will consist of an amount of
A$1000 for best paper and A$500 for best student paper. The best
papers will be selected by the organising and the program committees.
The rules of entry for best student paper are as follows:
* People eligible to take part must be registered as students, and
authorisation from their supervisors needs to be provided.
* The student must be the first author.
* Students wishing to be considered for the prize must submit to
dicta2003@csiro.au (a) willing to take part; (b) supervisor's
authorisation. The actual paper needs to be submitted at the
conference web site.

Several hotels are located near the conference venue. Please ensure
that you book early for the hotels as most hotels in the area are
expected to be heavily booked for a large Jehovahs Witness conference
in December. When booking, please also remember to mention that the
room is for the DICTA2003 conference being hosted by CSIRO. Please
