ICMI-PUI 2003 First Call for Papers
 Fifth International Conference on Multimodal Interfaces
 November 5-7, 2003

 We're pleased to announce the first call for papers for the upcoming
 International Conference on Multimodal Interfaces (ICMI-PUI'03), which
 will be held Nov. 5-7, 2003 in Vancouver, Canada. This event represents
 the merger of past Perceptive User Interface Workshops with the previous
 International Conferences on Multimodal Interfaces initiated in China -
 which now have joined together to create one annual ACM-sponsored
 international conference. This conference will present the latest
 multidisciplinary work on multimodal interfaces, systems and
 applications. 
 
 Topics of special interest to the conference include multimodal input
 and output interfaces, fusion techniques & hybrid architectures,
 processing of language and action patterns, gaze and vision-based
 interfaces, speech & conversational interfaces, pen-based interfaces,
 haptics interfaces, cognitive modeling of users, AI techniques &
 adaptive multimodal interfaces, multibiometric interfaces,
 multimodal-multisensor interfaces, interfaces for attentive &
 intelligent environments, mobile, tangible & virtual/augmented
 multimodal interfaces, universal access interfaces, and tools & system
 infrastructure issues for designing multimodal interfaces. 
 
 Submissions for all categories (full paper, short paper, panel proposal,
 demo proposal) are due April 21, 2003.
