SCIP session at JCIS 2003: First Call for Papers
=========================================================

You are kindly invited to participate in the Special Session on "Soft
Computing in Image Processing" to be organised at the JCIS 2003 Conference.
JCIS 2003, the 7th Joint Conference on Information Sciences, is held in Cary
(North Carolina, United States), on September 26-30, 2003. The session will
be organized as part of the 9th International Conference on Fuzzy Theory and
Technology (FT&T 2003), which is part of the JCIS Conference.

The aim of this session is to provide an international forum for
presentation of recent results and advances regarding soft computing
techniques in image processing. It is a unique opportunity for researchers
in this area to meet and to exchange ideas. It is also a way to establish
and/or intensify international cooperation.

Topics include but are not limited to:
- noise reduction in images
- edge detection and segmentation
- feature extraction
- image enhancement
- image compression
- similarity between images
- image analysis

Authors are invited to submit papers describing theoretical or practical
results. Papers related to practical applications in satellite or medical
image processing will be especially welcomed.

Researchers that you are interested in submitting a paper for this SCIP
Session are kindly asked to send a short confirmation email, including the
abstract of the paper, to scip@rug.ac.be. This will facilitate the upcoming
review process. You can use the same email address to submit the actual
paper. Guidelines for authors can be consulted on the SCIP website.
