CALL FOR PAPERS: Vision Interface ( http://www.visioninterface.org ) 16th International Conference on Vision Interface (jointly with AI2003 and GI 2003) June 11-13, 2003, Halifax, Canada Vision Interface is a single-track conference consisting of high quality, previously unpublished papers, presented either orally or as a poster. Contributions are sought on any aspect of computer vision, image processing or pattern recognition, including but not restricted to the following to topics: 2D/3D Scene analysis Active Vision Applications - biomedical, robotic, surveillance, inspection, entertainment Augmented Reality Biometrics Biological & Psychological aspects of Vision Calibration & Rectification (Mosaicing) Document Processing & Handwriting Recognition (OCR) Early Vision Face Detection & Recognition Gesture Detection & Recognition Graphics Recognition/Engineering Drawings Human Activity Recognition Human-Computer Interaction Image/Video Databases (multi-media, image/video retrieval) Image Segmentation & Classification Industrial applications (manufacturing) Learning & Classification methods Motion Analysis (optical flow, structure from motion, correspondences) Neural Nets for Vision & Image Understanding Object Recognition Performance Evaluation Techniques Real-time Vision Robotic Vision Shape Analysis Stereo vision Texture Analysis Tracking (2D/3D) Video Processing (motion, segmentation, registration) The conference provides an excellent environment for interdisciplinary interaction as well as for networking of students and scientists in computer vision and image understanding. In addition to regular sessions, there will be also invited sessions and an industry session. Two awards: for the best paper and for the best student paper, will be presented. REGISTRATION: For a single registration fee participants can attend presentations at either of AI/GI/VI conferences. This conference promotes participation of students by reducing significantly the student registration fee. Students may also apply for the registration fee waiver. There is a major reduction in registration fee for CIPPRS members. CIPPRS welcomes members from all countries. You can register at CIPPRS ( http://www.cipprs.org/ ) website. JOINT CONFERENCES: VI'2003 will be held in conjunction with GI'2003 (Graphics Interface) and AI'2003 (Artificial Intelligence). For a single registration fee participants can attend presentations at either of AI/GI/VI conferences. PAPER SUBMISSIONS: Papers are welcomed in either French or English language. Submissions in French should be accompanied by an abstract in English. The size of the papers should be limited to six double-column pages (with the absolute maximum of eight pages ). The proceedings will also be made available on-line at the CIPPRS and VI websites. The best papers will also be solicited for special volume of International Journal of Robotics and Automation (Acta Press). The tentative theme is 'Recent Advances in Machine Vision'. INDUSTRY PARTICIPATION: The conference welcomes the participation and sponsorship from industry companies. The booth and time slot will be allocated at the conference for industrial presentations.
