============================================================================= VLBV03 CALL FOR PARTICIPATION http://vlbv03.upm.es International Workshop VLBV03 Theme: Visual content processing and representation September 18-19, 2003 (right after IEEE ICIP 2003) Madrid, Spain ============================================================================= WORKSHOP FOCUS ============== The purpose of this workshop is to provide an international forum for discussion of state-of-the-art visual content processing techniques, standards, and applications covering areas such as: video/image analysis, representation and coding, communications and delivery, consumption, synthesis, protection, and adaptation. PROGRAM ======= Keynote speeches ---------------- Two leading experts, Dr. Leonardo Chiariglione (Telecom Italia Lab., Italy) and Dr. Gary J. Sullivan (Microsoft Corp., USA), will give the keynote speeches to open each day of the workshop. Panels ------ To facilitate the exchange of ideas and discussion, the workshop will include the following four invited panels (two each day): · Panel I: "Image and video analysis: ready to allow full exploitation of MPEG services?". Chairman: Thomas Sikora (Technische Univ. Berlin, Germany). · Panel II: "Content adaptation". Chairman: Fernando Pereira (Instituto Superior Técnico, Portugal). · Panel III: "Video coding: present and future". Chairman: Ralf Schäfer (Heinrich-Hertz Institut, Germany). · Panel IV: "3D graphics standards: present and future?". Chairman: Gauthier Lafruit (IMEC, Belgium). Panellists will include: Kiyoharu Aizawa (Univ. Tokyo, Japan), Jim Beveridge (Microsoft, UK), Touradj Ebrahimi (EPFL, Switzerland) Bernd Girod (Stanford Univ., USA), Philippe Joly (IRIT, France), Andrew Perkins (Norwegian Univ. Science and Technology, Norway), Julien Signès (Envivio, USA), John R. Smith (IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, USA), Murat Tekalp (Univ. Rochester, USA), and Anthony Vetro (Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs., USA). Poster sessions --------------- Contributed papers will be presented as posters.
