Call for Papers - LAVS 04 - Submission Deadline Extended to 20th May 2004 The International Workshop on Learning for Adaptable Visual Systems (LAVS 2004 http://www.xrce.xerox.com/icpr04/lavs04.htm ) will be held on August 22, 2004 in the city of Cambridge, UK, in conjunction with ICPR 2004. This workshop relates to recent progress on machine learning algorithms applied to vision and imaging problems. On the technical side we particularly encourage submissions relating to generic methods for handling fundamental issues of visual categorization, event interpretation, cognitive loops, cross-media indexing and categorization involving image analysis. We also invite submissions relating to new practical applications that these technologies enable such as multimedia database indexing, highly automated image restoration techniques, surveillance, as well as innovative mobile and wearable imaging services. PAPER SUBMISSION Papers submitted for review must follow the IEEE CS Press Proceedings two-column format (IEEE http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/icpr2004/papers/ICPR_Author_Guidelines.htm ICPR style). The papers must be submitted for review in final form. The maximum paper length for review as well as for publication is 8 pages, including the bibliography and the figures. Electronic manuscripts must be submitted in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. The paper must have the full author contact information (i.e. names, email addresses and affiliations). Authors should submit one copy of a PDF file with the subject "LAVS04 papers submission" along with author information to mailto:icpr-lv@xrce.xerox.com . Submitted papers and tech-notes must be original, unpublished work. All accepted papers will be published on the workshop CD. The workshop language will be English.
