OBJECTIVES

MDDE-04 workshop is aimed to bring together researches working on multimedia
problems, including video, audio, image, and text. Works on multimodal
analysis of the digital media content, indexing for and mining from
multimedia databases and multimedia applications from diverse applied
disciplines are invited to participate. Particularly, the workshop will
address the following questions:

- What are the current research problems and the applications addressed
involving multimedia data and documents?

- What are the specific issues in knowledge extraction from multimedia data
and documents composed of image, sound and video?

- What are suitable representations and advanced architectures that can
facilitate multimedia data and document management, indexing, retrieval and
transmission?

- Can the existing database and data mining techniques be adapted and
enhanced for knowledge discovery from multimedia data and documents?

Research papers are solicited in, but not limited to, the following topics:

- Analysis, content and knowledge extraction from multimedia data

- Indexing and content-based retrieval of multimedia data and documents

- Semantic representation and modeling

- Genre classification for video/image and web documents

- Relevance ranking of images, video clips and web documents for queries

- Mining from semi structured data (video, image, audio, web documents)

- Multimedia query processing and optimization

- Multimedia Standardization Models (MPEG7, MXF, SMIL)

- Multimedia content description languages and metadata
