============================================================== WIAMIS 2004 5th International Workshop on Image Analysis for Multimedia Interactive Services April 21-23, 2004, Lisboa, Portugal First Call for Papers ============================================================== The International Workshop on Image Analysis for Multimedia Interactive Services (WIAMIS) is one of the main international fora for the presentation and discussion of the latest technological advances in interactive multimedia services. The objective of the workshop is to bring together researchers and developers from academia and industry working in all areas of image, video and audio applications, with a special focus on analysis. After Louvain'97, Berlin'99, Tampere'01 and London'03, WIAMIS, from now on held annually, will be organized in 2004 by Instituto Superior Tecnico, in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. Topics Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * Multimedia content analysis and understanding * Content generation and manipulation * Content-based browsing, indexing and retrieval of images, video and audio * 2D/3D feature extraction * Advanced descriptors and similarity metrics for audio and video * Relevance feedback and learning systems * Supervised and unsupervised segmentation of objects in 2D/3D image sequences * Identification and tracking of regions in scenes * Voice/audio assisted video segmentation * Analysis for coding efficiency and increased error resilience * Analysis and understanding tools for content adaptation * Multimedia content adaptation tools, transcoding and transmoding * Content summarization and personalization strategies * Data hiding and copyright protection of multimedia content * Semantic mapping and ontologies * Objective and subjective performance evaluation * Multimedia analysis for advanced applications * Multimedia analysis for surveillance, broadcasting, mobile/wireless environments and the Internet * Multimedia analysis hardware and middleware Paper Submission Prospective contributors are invited to submit extended abstracts of not more than four pages, in pdf format, following the instructions available at http://amalia.img.lx.it.pt/wiamis2004/ Submission of extended abstract - November 28, 2003 Notification of acceptance - January 23, 2004 Submission of camera ready paper - February 13, 2004 Accepted papers will be published in the Workshop proceedings.
