==================================================== Call for Chapters Also available at http://www.fuzzy.ugent.be/SCIP/ ==================================================== Dear colleague, The field of soft computing in image processing is continuing to grow. Vision in general and images in particular have always played an important and essential role in human life. Today, the interaction between fundamental scientific research on the one hand and the development of new and high-standard technology on the other hand, enable us to create new or upgrade existing applications. Needless to say, soft computing techniques have shown to be a very usefull tool. Therefore, we have taken the initiative (within the framework of the SCIP Working Group) to edit the book "Soft Computing in Image Processing: Recent Advances". The book aims at providing a collection of recent and state-of-the-art contributions on this exciting topic, and will be published in the international series "Studies in Fuzziness and Soft Computing" (Springer-Verlag). We kindly invite you to submit a chapter for this book describing your work. A detailed Call for Chapters can be found in the attachment of this email, as well as at http://www.fuzzy.ugent.be/SCIP/ (click on "Edited volume"; you will be able to download all the files to submit your chapter in the required format). The time table is as follows: - Now: authors who are interested in contributing a chapter for the book are kindly asked to send a short email to SCIP@ugent.be, containing a preliminary title and a short abstract of their chapter. This will facilitate the planning of the review process. - By October 15, 2005: submission of chapters. - By November 30, 2005: notification of acceptance. - By January 15, 2006: submission of final chapters. - By Spring 2006: publication of the book "Soft Computing in Image Processing: Recent Advances". We sincerely hope that you will participate in this book! Kind regards, The editors Dr. M. Nachtegael, Dr. D. Van der Weken, Prof. Dr. E.E. Kerre.
