---------------------------------------------------------------- ***** CALL FOR PAPERS ***** ---------------------------------------------------------------- 10th Fall Workshop VISION, MODELING, AND VISUALIZATION 2005 (VMV2005) November 16-18, 2005 Erlangen, Germany organized by: Chair for Pattern Recognition Chair for Computer Graphics Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg DFG Graduate Research Center SFB 603: "Model-based Analysis and Visualization of Complex Scenes and Sensor Data" Vision, Modeling, and Visualization are rapidly converging disciplines. For a long time, Vision and Visualization were separate fields, with their own methodology, terminology, and models. However, for many applications vision and visualization have to work hand in hand based on models that can be used in both disciplines. Prominent examples are medical sciences, where novel and improved image sensors require new integrated vision, modeling, and visualization techniques. Also, due to the proliferation of digital photography and high speed graphics accelerators, image-based modeling and the corresponding vision and visualization techniques became a research topic of highest relevancy. The DFG Graduate Research Center SFB 603 "Model-based Analysis and Visualization of Complex Scenes and Sensor Data" at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg is focused on this research area since 1998. The workshop "Vision, Modeling, and Visualization 2005" is the tenth in a series of annual meetings organized by this Research Center. After successful meetings in Erlangen, Alpbach, Saarbrücken, Stuttgart, Munich, and Stanford, the 2005 workshop returns to Erlangen. The program will consist of contributed paper and poster presentations, as well as invited talks by internationally renowned speakers. Topics: - 3-D imaging - Object localization and recognition - Volume data processing and visualization - Multi-sensor fusion and 3-D registration - Medical image processing - Medical visualization - Structure from motion and stereo - Geometry-based and image-based rendering - Geometric modeling - Scene modeling and integration - Multi-view image processing and coding - Realistic rendering - Animation - Virtual reality - Applications (medicine, robotics, fluid mechanics, manufacturing, automated inspection, virtual reality, communication, etc.) Paper Submission: Prospective attendees are invited to submit a paper up to 8 pages in final form. All submissions will be reviewed. Accepted papers will be presented orally at the workshop and appear in the proceedings. Authors should obtain the author's kit (including LaTeX style-file) from http://www.vmv2005.uni-erlangen.de/ The author's kit provides complete information concerning the submission process. It is the intention of the Committee to conduct all communication with authors electronically. Questions should be directed to: submission@vmv2005.uni-erlangen.de. Authors' Schedule: Well ahead of deadline: Obtain author's kit and LaTeX style-file - June 15, 2005: Paper submission - July 15, 2005: Notification of acceptance - August 15, 2005: Final version - August 31, 2005: Registration deadline for authors The General Chairs can be reached at: Prof. Dr. H.
