************************************************************************** Signal, Image and Video Processing (Springer) Call for Papers Special Issue on 'Multi-sensor object detection and tracking' ************************************************************************** Theme of the special issue This special issue proposes to address some of the principal signal, image and video processing challenges in object tracking, in particular, theory and practice of algorithms for multi-sensor (including multi-modal) detection and tracking. The issue solicits contributions from researchers interested in designing, implementing and testing robust object detection and tracking algorithms that can be applied to real-world scenarios, characterized by sudden or gradual changes in the input statistics. Particular emphasis will be devoted to evaluation metrics for tracking algorithms that enable the validation and the comparison of alternative approaches. Papers describing original research work that reflects the recent theoretical advances and experimental results as well as open new avenues for research are invited on all aspects of object detection and tracking, including: * multi-sensor detection and tracking * performance evaluation metrics * target representation * initialization techniques * model updating techniques * dynamic feature selection * robust statistical techniques * dynamic background modelling * use of a-priori information in object detection and tracking The full Call for Papers can be found at: http://www.elec.qmul.ac.uk/staffinfo/andrea/SIVP.html Schedule * Deadline for manuscript submission: October 15, 2006 Notification of acceptance: December 15, 2006 Complete publication materials Due: February 15, 2007 Final decision on acceptance: March 15, 2007 Publication date (tentative): June 2007 Submission Guidelines Prospective authors should submit electronically in PDF format to Dr. Andrea Cavallaro (using the key-word TrackingSIVPRO as the e-mail subject). Manuscripts should be self-contained and not exceed 30 double-spaced single column pages typed in 10 points or larger. The first page must contain the title, the complete author addresses, an abstract of 500 words, and a list of keywords. All submissions will be peer reviewed for originality, technical content and relevance to the theme of the special issue.
