-------------------------------------------------------- CALL FOR PAPERS -------------------------------------------------------- ACM International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval (ACM-CIVR'07) July 9-11, 2007 University of Amsterdam Amsterdam, The Netherlands http://www.civr2007.com --------------------------------------------------------- =============== Important Dates =============== Paper Submission : February 5, 2007 Notification of Acceptance: March 12, 2007 Camera-Ready Paper Due : April 9, 2007 ======== Overview ======== Image and video storage and retrieval continue to be one of the most exciting and fastest-growing research areas in the field of multimedia technology. However, opportunities for the exchange of ideas between different groups of researchers, and between researchers and potential users of image/video retrieval systems, are still limited. The ACM International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval (CIVR) series was originally set up to illuminate the state of the art in image and video retrieval between researchers and practitioners throughout the world. This conference aims to provide an international forum for the discussion of challenges in the fields of image and video retrieval. ACM-CIVR2007 is seeking original high quality submissions addressing innovative research in the broad field of image and video retrieval. A unique feature of the conference is the high level of participation from practitioners. Application papers and presentations suitable for a wide audience are therefore particularly welcome. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: * Content-based indexing, search, and retrieval of images and videos * Semantic-based indexing, search, and retrieval of images and videos * Affect-based indexing, search, and retrieval of images and videos * Advanced descriptors and similarity metrics for images, audio and video * Learning and relevance feedback in image/video retrieval * 3D images and models * Ontologies for annotation and search of images and videos * Fusion of multimedia data sources * Image/video summarization and visualization * Multimodal human computer interaction * Evaluation of image and video retrieval systems * Studies of information-seeking behavior among image/video users * Query models, paradigms, and languages for image/video retrieval * Database architectures for image/video retrieval * Novel image data management systems and applications * High performance image/video indexing algorithms * Image/video search and browsing on the Web * Retrieval from multimodal lifelogs * Applications in broadcast, web, cultural heritage, satellite, forensic, and (bio-)medical image and video collections Besides regular paper submissions we are asking for submissions of special sessions and technical demos. =============== Keynote Speaker =============== Keith van Rijsbergen University of Glasgow, UK Andrew Zisserman University of Oxford, UK ========== Venue ========== University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The conference will be held in the Old Lutheran Church where during the academic year the PhD Ceremonies are being held. The conference venue is a traditional conference location in the historical city center of Amsterdam and has several auditoria for oral presentations and additional space for poster presentations. ========================= Airport and Accessibility ========================= Amsterdam is a major hub for the whole of Europe. Schiphol International Airport, located about 15 kilometers (10 miles) from the centre of Amsterdam, has direct scheduled connections to many cities in the world. Since Schiphol Railway Station is located in the arrival/departure building of the airport, the centre of Amsterdam can be reached by train easily in approximately 20 minutes. Apart from taxis, there are frequent train connections (approximately every 15 minutes throughout the day) from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Central Station, from where you can take a taxi or tram to your hotel or to the conference venue. ============== Sponsors ============== University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands IAPR MultimediaN MUSCLE CHORUS ===================== Organizing Committee ===================== Conference Chairs Nicu Sebe, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands Marcel Worring, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands Program Chairs Kiyo Aizawa, University of Tokyo, Japan Alberto Del Bimbo, University of Florence, Italy Alex Hauptmann, Carnegie Mellon University, USA Practitioner Chairs Annemieke de Jong, Sound and Vision, The Netherlands Jan Nesvadba, Philips Research, The Netherlands Local Chair Cees Snoek, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands Special Session/Panel Chair Alex Jaimes, FXPAL, Japan Publication Chairs Pietro Pala, University of Florence, Italy Yi Wu, Intel Research, USA Publicity Chairs Stephane Marchand-Maillet, University of Geneva, Switzerland Qi Tian, University of Texas at San Antonio, USA Demo Chairs Allan Hanbury, Vienna University of Technology, Austria Hari Sundaram, Arizona State University, USA Financial Chair Jeroen van Rest, TNO, The Netherlands ================== Program Committee ================== Nozha Boujemaa, INRIA Patrick Bouthemy, IRISA / INRIA Shih-Fu Chang, Columbia University Michael Christel, CMU Tat-Seng Chua, National University of Singapore Rita Cucchiara, University of Modena Nevenka Dimitrova, Philips Research Chabane Djeraba, LIFL Pinar Duygulu-Sahin, Bilkent University Peter Enser, University of Brighton Andrew Fitzgibbon, Microsoft Research David Forsyth, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign Daniel Gatica-Perez, IDIAP Research Institute / EPFL Jan-Mark Geusebroek, University of Amsterdam Theo Gevers, University of Amsterdam Luc van Gool, University of Leuwen/ETH Alan Hanjalic, Delft University of Technology Thomas Huang, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Ichiro Ide, National Institute of Informatics Horace Ip, City University of Hong Kong Ramesh Jain, University of California, Irvine Franciska de Jong, University of Twente Joemon Jose, University of Glasgow Mohan Kankanhalli, National University of Singapore Josef Kittler, University of Surrey Anil Kokaram, Trinity College Dublin Wessel Kraaij, TNO Clement Leung, Victoria University Michael Lew, Leiden University Paul Lewis, University of Southampton Rainer Lienhart, University of Augsburg Raghavan Manmatha, University of Massachusetts, Amherst Jiri Matas, CVUT Prague Milind Naphade, IBM Eric Pauwels, CWI Dragutin Petkovic, San Francisco State University Gopal Pingali, IBM Research Andreas Rauber, Vienna Technical University Stefan Rueger, Imperial College London Yong Rui, Microsoft Research Lloyd Rutledge, CWI Andrew Salway, University of Surrey Stan Sclaroff, Boston University Alan Smeaton, Dublin City University Arnold Smeulders, University of Amsterdam John R.
