--------------------------------------------------------------------------- International Workhsop on Multimedia Content Analysis and Mining (MCAM'07) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- June 30-July 1 2007, Shandong University, WeiHai, China Through recent advances in computing, networking and data storage, multimedia will create new interesting technical possibilities in a wide range of fields, such as entertainment, commerce, science, medicine and public safety. To benefit from this potential, developers need reliable techniques for the analysis, search, and management of multimedia data, as well as distributed system architectures in which these techniques can be embedded to effectively help the users. Recently, there have been many workshops and meeting dedicated to Multimedia but most of them were following the standard pattern consisting mainly of oral and poster presentations. We all feel that there is a need for a meeting which is really a workshop, i.e., providing a lot of opportunities for discussions and dissmenination. Consequently, the workshop format will containt 4 half-day sessions, each consisting of a panel followed by discussions and poster presentations. The intended topics and panelel chairs are as follows: 1. Muyltimedia Analysis and Applications Arnold Smeulders, Univ. of Amsterdam, The Netherlands (chair) 2. Multimedia search and mining John R. Smith, IBM, USA (chair) 3. P2P streaming Wen Gao, Chinese Academy of Science, China (chair) 4. Security Shih-Fu Chang, Columbia Univ., USA (chair) For the poster sessions we seek technical contributions and position statements in the four areas listed above. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following: Multimedia Analysis and Applications - multimedia tools, end-systems, and applications - multimedia authoring - multi-modal interaction and integration - multimedia in e-learning and entertainment - personal media, assisted living, and virtual environments - national initiatives such as call for projects, national strategies, etc. Multimedia search and mining - multimedia semantics - multimedia modeling and fusion - audio/video/multi-modal processing - multimedia content description and indexing - content-based retrieval with emphasis on multiple and novel media - object and event detection and recognition - benchmarking of content analysis methods and algorithms - generic methods and algorithms for content analysis - affective content analysis. Multimedia networking and system support - context-aware multimedia communications - peer-to-peer streaming - audio/video streaming - multimedia content distribution - wireless multimedia - adaptive support for scalable media - Quality of Service Security - multimedia digital rights management (protection and attribution) - robust watermarking of multimedia - authentication of multimedia - informational-theoretical aspects of data hiding - watermarking quality evaluations and benchmarks - new applications, security issues and legal aspects Important Dates --------------- Paper Submission: March 19, 2007 Notification of Acceptance: April 15, 2007 Camera-ready Papers: April 23, 2007 Submissions ----------- The intention is to publish the proceedings is the Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science Series. The authors are requested to send their submissions (no longer than 10 pages in the Springer LNCS style in English). All submissions will be peer reviewed by at least three memebers of the technical program committee.
