The International MultiMedia Modeling (MMM) Conference is a leading international conference http://cemnet.ntu.edu.sg/mmm2007/index.htm for researchers and industry practitioners to share their new ideas, original research results and practical development experiences from all MMM related areas. The conference calls for research papers reporting original investigation results and industrial track papers reporting real multimedia applications and system development experience. The conference also solicits proposals for tutorials on crucial technologies of multimedia modeling, and calls for special sessions proposals focusing on specific new challenges in the multimedia arena. The areas of interest includes, but not limited to, the following: 1. Multimedia Content Analysis 1.1 Image/Video/Audio Content Analysis for Retrieval Applications 1.2 Multimodal Analysis for Retrieval Applications 1.3 Multimedia Fusion Methods 1.4 Multimedia Abstraction & Summary 1.5 Media Content Browsing and Retrieval Tools 2. Multimedia Signal Processing & Communications 2.1 Mutimedia Compression, Representation and Signal Processing 2.2 Advances in Multimedia Networking and Streaming 3. Multimedia Security & Multimedia Database 4. New Multimedia Architectures, Systems, Applications and Services 4.1 Multi-Camera and Multiview Systems 4.2 Virtual Reality 4.3 Real-Time and Interactive Multimedia Applications 4.4 Multimedia Web Applications 4.5 Sensor Networks (Video Surveillance, Distributed Systems) 4.6 Emerging Trends (Multimedia Collaboration, Contextual Metadata, Collaborative Tagging) Important Dates Submission of full papers : 10 Jul 2006 (23:59 Pacific Standard Time) Notification of acceptance : 11 Sep 2006 Camera-ready Copy Due : 9 Oct 2006 Author registration : 6 Oct 2006 Conference :9 -12 Jan 2007 Paper Submission Guidelines Papers should be around 10 - 12 pages in length, conforming to the formatting instructions of Springer Verlag, LNCS series www.springer.com/lncs. All papers should be submitted electronically at MMM2007 Paper Submission Website: http://cemnet.ntu.edu.sg/mmm2007/authorguidelines.htm. To publish the paper in the conference, one of the authors needs to register and present the paper in the conference. Selected papers will be published in "The Visual Computer" journal. CALL FOR TUTORIALS AND SPECIAL SESSIONS PROPOSALS An integral part of MMM 2007 is the tutorial and special session program. The conference solicits proposals for tutorials on crucial technologies of multimedia modeling, and calls for special sessions proposals focusing on specific new challenges in the multimedia arena. Tutorials: Suggested tutorial topics of interest are identical to those of the conference themes, which can be found at http://cemnet.ntu.edu.sg/mmm2007/index.htm. We will consider proposals for introductory and advanced tutorials on any multimedia modeling topic, but original tutorials not yet or recently presented elsewhere will be favoured. Introductory tutorials should target an audience consisting of advanced undergraduate and graduate students, as well as attendees from industry. Tutorials will typically be half-day (3 hrs). The tutorial proposal should include the following: *Title *A brief summary of the topic *Outline including a short summary of every section *Specific goals and objectives *Expected background of the audience *A biographical sketch of the presenter(s) *Audio Visual equipment needed for the presentation The proposal should be not more than 5 pages in length. Attach a cover sheet to each copy with the presenter's name, affiliation, address, email, phone, and fax. Submission must be received by 10 July 2006 (23:59 Pacific Standard Time). Please submit your proposals via email to one of the Tutorial Co-Chairs: * Chiew Tong LAU (ctlau@ieee.org) * Fang LI (ASFLi@ntu.edu.sg) Proposals will be evaluated by a committee and voted upon based on merit and relevance. The presenters are to provide comprehensive tutorial notes (printable slides) prior to the event, which will then be published on the MMM web site and thus be made available to conference attendees free of charge. Notification of acceptance will be sent out after 11 Sep 2006. Special Sessions: In addition to regular sessions, participants are encouraged to organize special sessions on specialized topics. Each special session is expected to have from 6 to 8 papers and at least one author for each paper must register for the conference and present the paper during the session. Special session organizers will solicit submissions and conduct reviews on the submitted papers. If you decide to organize a special session, please forward the following information by email to one of the special session Co-Chairs (Chiew Tong LAU (ctlau@ieee.org); Fang LI (ASFLi@ntu.edu.sg)) by 10 June 2006 (23:59 Pacific Standard Time): · Title of the proposed special session · Name/affiliations of all organizers including brief bio and contact information · Session abstract (state significance of topic and rationale for proposed session) Proposals will be evaluated by a committee and voted upon based on merit and relevance. Notification of acceptance of special session proposal will be sent out after 20 June 2006. S.
