PCM'07 will include several special sessions in the technical program. Work included in the special sessions is expected to represent the state-of-the-art and highlight the important research directions in multimedia research. Each special session will consist of 5 invited papers. The session organizer will be responsible for the selection of these papers. It is encouraged that the session begins with an overview paper on the topic being addressed and remaining papers follow up with technical contributions on the topic. The following information should be included in the proposal: •- Title of proposed session •- Session abstract (state the importance of the topic and the rationale for the session) •- Name/affiliation of organizers (including brief bio and contact information) •- List of the invited papers, each with author names / Title / an abstract (300–500 words). Proposals will be evaluated based on the timeliness of the topic, relevance to PCM, as well as qualifications of the organizers and quality of the paper abstracts in the proposed session. Please note that all papers in the proposed session will be reviewed to ensure the quality of the contributions. Once the proposal has been approved, the organizer(s) will organize the review process. Each paper should receive at least three reviews. The organizers send their recommendations to the Special Session Co-Chairs for final approval. If a significant number of the papers are rejected after peer-review for an approved Special Session, this Special Session may be cancelled. If a proposal is not accepted, papers in that proposal can still be submitted to the regular sessions. =========================================== Submission Procedure for Special Sessions =========================================== Those who are interested in organizing a special session should submit a proposal adhering to the above requirements by email to Dr. Qi Tian at qitian@cs.utsa.edu and Dr. Timothy Shih at tshih@cs.tku.edu.tw.
