_____________________ Workshop on Bioimage Informatics 2008 Jan 17-18, 2008 at UCSB The goal of this NSF sponsored workshop is to bring together researchers who work at the intersection of bioimaging and image informatics, to present their recent results relying on cutting edge image data analysis, computer vision, data mining, machine learning, visualization, and informatics methods, to study biological processes. One specific emphasis of this workshop will be the definition of standardized image datasets for validating computer vision and pattern recognition methods in bioimaging applications. Workshop Format: This will be the second workshop hosted by the Center for Bio-Image Informatics at UCSB. The workshop will be a two-day event consisting of invited talks from established investigators in the field, presentations from both junior faculty and students, and poster sessions. The workshop format will emphasize discussions rather than being solely a result-reporting meeting. There will be longer than customary Q&A periods and breaks to offer the attendees more extensive discussion and networking opportunities. There will also be opportunities for industry professionals to showcase state-of-the-art technology in imaging hardware and software. For more details, see http://www.bioimage.ucsb.edu/workshop2008
